The Role
Own the global KYC/AML data-source framework and end-to-end review specifications for an agentic AI compliance platform. Translate regulatory requirements, sourcing rules, SOPs, and expert judgment into machine-usable decision logic. Evaluate vendors, validate AI decisions, define fallback sourcing strategies, lead audits and gap assessments, and collaborate with compliance, legal, product, engineering, and risk stakeholders across jurisdictions.
Summary Generated by Built In

KYC and AML compliance is one of the most consequential — and most broken — workflows in global financial services. Fragmented data sources, inconsistent jurisdictional rules, and reviews that still depend on manual judgment mean the industry is drowning in cost and risk it cannot scale its way out of. We are building an agentic AI solution to fix this at the root, and we're looking for a Senior KYC/AML SME who has spent a career inside that complexity to help design it.

This is not a back-office policy role. It is a rare chance to encode years of hard-won regulatory and data-sourcing judgment into the reasoning layer of a next-generation, AI-driven compliance platform — shaping how thousands of KYC reviews get done, faster and more reliably, across every jurisdiction we operate in. You will sit at the intersection of policy, data, and AI, working directly with product and engineering teams to turn expert judgment into the intelligence that powers autonomous KYC review.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Define and continuously maintain the global data and document source framework for identity verification, beneficial ownership, and due diligence — establishing which sources are acceptable, reliable, and compliant in each jurisdiction.

  • Author, own, and evolve specifications for end-to-end KYC review (onboarding, periodic review, EDD/CDD triggers, escalation, exception handling) processes

  • Partner directly with AI and Product Engineering teams to translate policy logic, sourcing rules, and review judgment into the decision framework that powers our agentic KYC review solution.

  • Act as the human-in-the-loop authority for the agentic solution — validating AI-driven sourcing and review decisions, surfacing edge cases, and refining the rules that guide the agent's reasoning.

  • Evaluate and benchmark data providers and verification vendors across jurisdictions, documenting strengths, weaknesses, coverage gaps, and fit-for-purpose use cases to inform both manual and automated sourcing decisions.

  • Serve as the go-to SME on evolving global KYC/AML regulation, translating regulatory change into updated sourcing rules, SOPs, and agent logic.

  • Lead gap assessments and audits of data source usage and review outcomes, driving continuous improvement of both the SOPs and the AI system they inform.

  • Support onboarding and pilot testing of new data providers, defining fallback/waterfall sourcing logic that the agentic solution can execute autonomously.

  • Collaborate with compliance, legal, risk, and product stakeholders to ensure both human and AI-driven sourcing and review decisions meet regulatory and audit standards.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • 12+ years in KYC/AML, financial crime compliance, or due diligence roles, with demonstrated ownership of policy, sourcing, and review decisions.

  • Deep, practical knowledge of global KYC/AML regulatory frameworks (FATF, EU AMLD, US BSA/FinCEN, UK MLR/FCA, MAS, HKMA, and equivalents) and jurisdiction-specific document/ID requirements.

  • Proven expertise defining acceptable data and document sources for identity verification, beneficial ownership, and sanctions/PEP screening across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Hands-on experience authoring and governing SOPs for KYC review processes end-to-end, with the rigor to make them machine-translatable.

  • Strong working knowledge of major data providers and vendors (e.g., LexisNexis, Refinitiv World-Check, Dow Jones, Moody's/Orbis, Trulioo, Dun & Bradstreet, Experian, Equifax, national registries) — their coverage, strengths, weaknesses, and best-fit use cases.

  • Ability to assess data quality, freshness, and reliability trade-offs, and design fallback/waterfall sourcing strategies.

  • Comfort working alongside AI/ML and product teams, translating nuanced policy judgment into structured rules, decision trees, or logic that can inform an intelligent system.

  • Strong stakeholder management across compliance, legal, product, and operations, with excellent documentation and communication skills.

ADDED ADVANTAGE
  • Prior experience in product development or product management at a leading data or KYC/AML solutions provider (e.g., LexisNexis, Refinitiv, Moody's, Dow Jones, Trulioo, Bureau van Dijk).

  • Exposure to AI/ML-driven compliance, RegTech, or agentic automation platforms.

  • Certifications such as CAMS, CGSS, or ICA Diploma in Anti Money Laundering.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Law, Business, or a related field. A recognized compliance certification (CAMS, CGSS, or ICA Diploma in AML) is strongly preferred.

KEY COMPETENCIES
  • Deep regulatory and policy acumen

  • Analytical rigor and sound judgment under ambiguity

  • Systems thinking — able to translate expert judgment into structured, machine-usable logic

  • Stakeholder influence across compliance, product, and engineering

  • Builder's mindset — energized by shaping a 0-to-1 solution, not just running an existing process
