POSITION:                                       Associate Professor of Management

DIVISION/DEPARTMENT:          School of Business & Aeronautical Sciences

FLSA STATUS:                                Full-Time, Exempt 

REPORTS TO:                                 Chair, School of Business

                                                           The Associate Professor of Management is a full-time non-tenured faculty position requiring a strong academic background specifically in more than one area of management. The Associate Professor of Management shall have the primary responsibility for supporting the School of Business in maximizing the University's operating performance while achieving institutional goals and objectives, requiring a strong academic background. The Associate Professor of Management requires experience in the field with the ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses both face-to-face and online.

Essential Functions

  • Develop and utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines.
  • Maintain and oversee a full-time teaching schedule.
  • Participate in scholarly activities and academic services beyond the regular teaching assignment including advising.
  • Participate in the ongoing affairs of the University through self-initiated projects and service on ad hoc committees.
  • Remain current in the discipline and instruct assigned courses in a manner consistent with the scheduled time, course content, and course credits approved by the faculty, administration, and Board of Trustees.
  • Be accountable for collaborative and applied research in various disciplines, including assistance with grant applications and data analysis on funded grants.
  • Perform teaching, scholarship, service, professional development, and program assessments for accreditation.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or deemed appropriate to the accomplishment of the responsibilities and functions of the Business Department
  • Advise students for both academic and career fields.
  • A thorough understanding of technology, learning management systems, and computer applications is essential (i.e. Blackboard, Canvas, PowerCampus, Jenzabar, Linkedin Learning).
  • The omission of specific duties does not preclude the department head from assigning tasks that logically relate to the position.

  • Attention to detail, adaptability, and dependability to a changing environment is extremely important.
  • Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • An earned Ph.D. or DBA in Management, Management Science, Business Analytics, Applied Statistics, Operations Management, Operations Research, or a closely related area from an ACBSP/AACSB accredited university.
  • A doctorate/terminal degree in the assigned academic (teaching) area and 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching area.
  • An earned master's in Management Science, Operations Management Operations Research, Business Analytics, Applied Statistics, Data Science, Decision Sciences, or a closely related area from an accredited university with 5+ years of industry experience in related areas.
  • The ability to provide quality instructions in the academic discipline.
  • Demonstrated sustained peer reviewed research, scholarly and/or creative accomplishments that represent the University in the academic discipline.
  • Demonstrated a sustained commitment to having a positive impact through service that represents the University in leadership capacities.
  • Evidence of continual professional growth and development.
  • Held the rank of Assistant Professor for six years.
  • Expertise in teaching business analytics and applied statistics.  Also experience teaching one or more of the following areas: management science, operations management/research, decision sciences, and supply chain.
  • Teaching credentials that include experience in experiential and active learning pedagogies.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability and desire to work collegially with faculty and students from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Evidence of integrating technology into instruction, on-line teaching, or using other emerging technologies.
  • Ability to teach across multiple modalities, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid.
  • Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends (if applicable).
