Job Purpose

As an Associate Product Engineer, Medical Devices at VulcanForms, you will help define and execute the manufacturing processes that take our printed parts from the build plate to a finished, inspected product. Working under the direction of senior engineers, you will support continuous improvement of the production line, applying advanced manufacturing techniques, automation, and lean manufacturing methods to develop optimized production processes.

You will build and maintain the processes, procedures, work instructions, and documentation that produce our components and sub-assemblies to customer specification, with a focus on increasing throughput while holding a high standard for quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support operations to keep product moving through the factory seamlessly and efficiently.
  • Own end to end cycle time for an assigned set of medical device parts, from the additive process through post-processing to customer shipment.
  • Participate in Kaizen events, contributing the data and process analysis needed to address bottlenecks.
  • Work with quality resources to ensure appropriate inspection techniques are employed and are meeting customer needs in both development and production contexts.
  • Write and maintain work instructions and process-related quality documentation, adapting existing processes for new products and keeping files, programs, and revisions under proper configuration control.
  • Review and disposition non-conforming material to keep parts moving through the factory.
  • Troubleshoot and problem-solve alongside operations across every process step between printing and final delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Manufacturing, or Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 0-3 years of manufacturing, process, or product engineering experience, including internship and co-op experience.
  • Proficiency in advanced 3D CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, Creo, SolidWorks) preferred.
  • Working knowledge of metal manufacturing processes across both additive and subtractive methods.
  • Exposure to a regulated manufacturing environment (FDA 21 CFR, or equivalent) preferred.
