Summary:
In this role, you will blend product management, leadership, strategic vision, and technical proficiency. The Associate Principal will lead and support the overall operations of the Product Operating Model (POM) process, acting as both a subject matter expert (SME) and coach. The role requires a backward-working, customer-centric approach to addressing industry challenges through agile methodologies. You will be responsible for facilitating senior leadership meetings, and disseminating decisions to key stakeholders. In addition, this role emphasizes coaching product managers, driving process excellence, and leading strategic initiatives that enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure customer-centric alignment: Ensure that all customer problems (internal and external) are understood, documented, and vetted. Ensure all problem statements are aligned with the PSM North Star, prioritized, and ready for Council or PLM approval. Ensure the PSM community has the resources and skills to maintain a customer-centric culture, and that the business and stakeholder community understand their impact on the Product Operating Model (POM).
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME): Serve as a subject matter expert in articulating customer challenges and assessing milestones and resources needed to support addressing those challenges (Working Backward mindset). Represent the POM Portfolio as a stakeholder and voting member in the Product Operating Model Council.
- Data-driven decisions and analysis: Actively collect and analyze data from regulatory environments, competitive intelligence, market research, market trends, and other data points related to data acquisition and interoperability offerings. Partner with PLM leaders to launch a KPI Dashboard and ensure regular reviews to drive improvements.
- Process improvement and organizational education: Work closely with the POM Ops and POM Change committees to implement continuous process improvements. Collaborate with tools experts to optimize reporting and configuration. Educate the organization on the POM process and its role in achieving the multi-year vision.
- Product management coaching and leadership: Serve as a Product Manager Coach, providing guidance to improve skills and foster a culture of continuous learning. Collaborate with the Product leadership team to develop the PM Practice and launch initiatives such as the PM Guild and Bar Raiser programs.
Qualifications:
- Relevant degree in business-related or analytical discipline preferred. MBA, MPH or MHA desired.
- 10 or more years’ relevant experience in a product management/product ownership role required.
- Experience developing data digital products desired.
- Strong experience leading a team of Product Managers.
- Experience working with data specifications and data mapping between systems desired.
- Experience with EMR’s, ERP’s interoperability software or data standards preferred.
- Experience working in an agile development environment preferred.
- Strong project management skills, organizational skills, and communication skills required.

Estimated Hiring Range:
At Vizient, we consider skills, experience, and organizational needs in our compensation approach. Geographic factors may adjust the range estimate and hires typically fall below the top range. Compensation decisions are tailored to individual circumstances. The current salary range for this role is $135,200.00 to $223,200.00.
