We have a unique opportunity for an experienced Marine Approvals Specialist who has strong technical environmental impact assessment, project leadership and client management capabilities to join our Perth team.

This role will provide the opportunity to work across a diverse range of projects, including marine and port developments, major infrastructure, and government projects, while helping shape and lead the continued growth of SLR’s marine approvals capabilities.

Job tasks and responsibilities

Your role will include:

  • Leading marine projects through all stages from concept to implementation
  • Provide advice on Part IV, Part V and EPBC approval pathways and strategy.
  • Manage environmental assessments for marine, port and coastal developments.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, technical specialists and subcontractors.
  • Prepare and review environmental impact assessment and regulatory approval documentation.
  • Manage client relationships, project budgets, milestone tracking, and deliverables.
  • Liaise with regulators, government agencies and project stakeholders.
  • Support business development, proposals and growth of the marine and approvals practice.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Ecology, or a related field.
  • 8+ years’ environmental consulting experience, ideally across government and private-sector projects.
  • Strong knowledge of WA Part IV and Part V environmental approvals.
  • Proven experience with EPBC Act referrals and assessments.
  • Marine, coastal or port development experience required.
  • Experience leading environmental impact assessments and coordinating technical studies.
  • Strong project management, client and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and business development capability.
