Incarnate Word High School, an all-girls Catholic high school sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, seeks an Associate Principal for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will have a 12-month work schedule. The school seeks to maintain a fully and authentically Catholic environment.  

Position Summary: As a member of the school leadership team, the associate principal is expected to make thoughtful decisions that support students and their academic, social, and emotional growth that are aligned with the Catholic faith and the mission of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word. Under the supervision of the principal, the associate principal serves as a leader on the campus. The associate principal is assigned by the principal to lead activities; support and supervise on the school site; supervise and evaluate support staff; supervise extracurricular activities; and ensure a safe, orderly campus and positive school climate. In the absence of the principal, the associate principal assumes leadership of the campus. 

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

School Leadership

  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school and the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word.
  • Works with the principal as part of the school’s leadership team. Collaborates, organizes and executes decisions made by the leadership team with integrity.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters
  • Works with student leaders and advisors to support initiatives, activities and other events that improve school climate.
  • Supports the principal in planning, organizing and reviewing school programs and activities.
  • Communicates effectively with school staff, parents and students.
  • Addresses issues of equity and achievement with staff, students and parents.
  • Assists in the interviewing, hiring, and mentoring of new staff.
  • Promotes positive staff morale and commitment.

Student Safety and Intervention:

  • Serves as an integral part of the school’s safety team. Helps develop and monitor the school’s safety plan.
  • Supervises student events, athletic contests and other after school programs as assigned.
  • Assists in developing school plans and organizational procedures for health, safety, student body activities, discipline, and conduct of students.
  • Assumes responsibility for student discipline; works on the implementation of restorative justice and proactively addresses issues of student climate. 
  • Supervises attendance office programs and procedures.
  • Assists with monitoring academic growth and achievement.
  • Designs appropriate interventions for underperforming students.
  • Leads communication with parents regarding student achievement.

Requirements

  

Other Qualifications:

  • State and federal background clearance to work with students.
  • Successful completion of Virtus background check and training as required by the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally when writing and speaking.
  • Demonstrate an organizational and leadership skillset.
  • Be proficient with computer-based systems including, but not limited to: G-suite, Microsoft Office, and the school Student Information System.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Education: 

  • Master’s Degree in Education required
  • Valid teaching certification
  • Valid Texas administrative certification
  • 5-7 years of successfully teaching and/or leading at the high school level
