Role Description

Form Energy is looking for a hands-on Associate Manager of Quality Engineering to lead a product quality engineering team on our factory floor. Reporting to the Quality Engineering Manager, you will operate with high autonomy to manage the day-to-day quality engineering activities across manufacturing lines — driving timely resolution of line issues, coaching a team of Quality Engineers, and ensuring our processes consistently meet specification. You will own the risk profile for your production lines, knowing where quality risk is concentrated and making fast, well-informed calls on how to manage it. You will work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and the broader Quality organization to keep the lines running at the quality level our products demand, while building the discipline and rigor of the team you lead. This is a role for someone who thrives in the detail of daily floor operations as much as in developing the people and processes that sustain quality at scale.

Relocation assistance is available.

What you'll do:
  • Lead and coach a team of Quality Engineers, setting daily priorities, developing their technical skills, and holding the team accountable to a high quality bar

  • Own the day-to-day execution of quality engineering activities across production lines, ensuring issues are triaged, escalated, and resolved quickly

  • Develop, maintain and continuously improve PFMEAs and Control Plans for your lines, keeping them aligned with current process risk and performance data

  • Lead execution of and training on mission-critical quality systems: Material Review Board (MRB), Process Change Requests (PCR), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Inspection Standards, Control Plans, SPC/Control Charts, Traceability, etc.

  • Manage the risk profile of production lines using quality metrics to identify where risk is concentrated, and drive continuous improvement in how that risk is mitigated over time

  • Own the creation and daily operation of Form Energy’s Quality Management Systems, ensuring regulatory compliance for safe development, production, and deployment of Form’s battery systems

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on continuous improvement activities, cost down initiatives, etc.

  • Facilitate, promote and train in the use of highly effective best practices

What you'll bring:
  • 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering or manufacturing, including experience leading or managing a technical team

  • Hands-on experience executing quality systems such as MRB, PCR, PPAP, Inspection Standards, Control Plans, SPC/Control Charts, and Traceability

  • Highly technical, with a strong foundation for logic that allows for a steep learning curve and the ability to adapt to new technologies.

  • Experience/expertise of various quality system methodologies including 8D (problem solving), SPC (data analytics), DOE (Design of Experiments), GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), RCA (root cause analysis), proper auditing techniques, design reviews, etc.

  • Excellent leadership, project management, communication, and organizational skills.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering

Where you'll work:

This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV—an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing. Relocation assistance is available.
