Summary: Associate Manager, Perception Analytics and Insights, is an experienced pharmaceutical industry professional who draws upon a versatile skillset to drive data operations enabling the outputs of the Perception Analytics group. Associate Manager is a more seasoned member of the analyst team who is able to assist the Manager/Senior Manager role, provide guidance to other analyst colleagues, and take on more complex analytic reports and tasks as needed.

Roles and responsibilities

  • Lead complex data analyses on insight trends related across both internal insights and external social media, providing strategic insights to support decision-making. Ensure the highest level of accuracy and quality on reports.
  • Lead the analyst team in technical operations, including the properly management, processing, and curation of internal insight and external social media data into analytic-ready data sets for a variety of reporting needs.
  • Devise and apply processes for the rapid and efficient handling of high volumes of unstructured text data, including leveraging innovative automation, AI, and algorithmic techniques to provide accurate and efficient categorization and tagging for business purposes.
  • Oversee the appropriate maintenance of tools and processes used in the consistent processing of data, including product/study tag libraries, master user mapping references, and other files. Create efficient pipelines for the curation of analytic-ready data sets.
  • Maintain and populate PowerPoint templates for quantitative insight reporting for a variety of purposes, including congresses, Medical launches, and ad hoc analytic needs. Assist with the creation of higher-level reports reports based on direction from managers and onshore leads.
  • Maintain and create Tableau dashboards for on-demand MEDsights reporting for a variety of needs. Develop user-friendly options for custom filtering an exporting to slide views. Work with the iMAP and other back-end data teams to ensure appropriate flow of insights into dashboards and proper application of mapping / business rules.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior business analysts within the team.
  • Stay informed about industry trends relevant to BI reporting, visualization, medical affairs, and Field Medical.

Skills and competencies

  • Proficiency in a variety of technical software and techniques, combined with an analytic mindset to leverage these tools for strategic problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Strong analytical skills with knowledge of qualitative design, data analysis, and applied statistics.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex information into easy-to-digest written formats.
  • Strong project management and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams and manage a heavy workload across multiple competing priorities.
  • Strong creative problem-solving skills and business acumen, with the ability to identify and synthesize key findings from disparate data sources to provide recommendations.
  • Ability to provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts, and to serve as a subject matter expert on data-related matters.

Experience:

  • BA/BS minimum degree. Special consideration for advanced degrees in applied sciences (computer science, mathematics, data science) or engineering.
  • 5+ years career experience preferred, including 2+ years of experience in data analytics.
  • Experience with managing, leading, and developing highly technical teams supporting global enterprise.
  • Experience working successfully with senior stakeholders in a matrix environment, including articulating value propositions, challenging assumptions, balancing trade-offs, and managing demand. Ability to manage competing priorities is a must.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to summarize complex information into easy-to-digest written formats.
  • Clinical or pharmaceutical / healthcare industry experience preferred.
  • Deep understanding of how data can be used to answer critical business solutions and develop creative solutions.
  • Understanding of different analytics and data visualization methodologies, with an emphasis on text analytics. Experience with integrating new tools and methodologies into complex data environments would be a bonus.
  • Proficiency with sourcing social media data (Twitter/X) from external sources.
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • Proficiency in interactive and collaborative workspaces (e.g. SharePoint, Domino)
  • Proficiency with predictive analytics software and methodologies (e.g. R, Python, SAS)
  • Proficiency with text analytics software and methodologies (e.g. BioBERT, SciBERT, Luminoso, KANA)
  • Proficiency with data visualization software (Tableau)
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
