Associate Manager, Cargo and Inland Marine Claims

The Opportunity

The purpose of this role is to manage the adjustment process of inland marine and cargo losses for the company. 

  • Location: TX - Houston or LA - New Orleans

  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid (2-3 days in the office)

  • The salary range for this role is between $101,000 - $151,000 for New Orleans and $111,000 - $166,000 for Houston, TX depending on experience

Your new role

  • Investigate and resolve claims related to marine cargo and inland marine claims.

  • Manage and negotiate settlement of all claims assigned.

  • Assess and determine liability for all damage loss.

  • Assess and determine coverage based on policy terms and industry regulations.

  • Ensure compliance with statutory and corporate service standards.

  • Monitor compliance with industry guidelines and policies.

  • Review and settle problematic and complex claims, authorize payments, and handle complaints.

  • Support subrogation efforts and advise on loss mitigation.

  • Maintain good client relationships and respond to critical issues timely and effectively.

  • Provide periodic updates to management regarding cases being handled, industry trends, and claims strategy.

Work Experience:

Preferred Work Experience includes:

  • 5 Years of experience in the handling of cargo and inland marine claims with an extensive knowledge and familiarity of insurance policy wording.

  • Relevant working experience in the industry. 

  • 5 Years of experience in a similar role.

  • Customer service and end-to-end interaction management experience.

Qualifications:

Necessary Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance. We encourage all candidates to apply, even if their salary expectations fall outside of this range, as we are committed to finding the right fit for our team.
