The Associate Group Tax Manager sits within Novotech’s global tax team and is responsible for supporting and managing assigned tax accounting, reporting, compliance and governance activities. The role combines hands-on preparation and review with day-to-day coordination of junior tax team members, regional finance managers, external advisers and auditors.
Job Summary
The role manages assigned recurring tax reporting and compliance deliverables across multiple jurisdictions, including tax effect accounting, income tax reporting, tax filings, governance documentation and adviser coordination. It requires strong ownership, sound judgement and the ability to prepare and review calculations and workpapers while escalating complex matters appropriately. This role would suit a tax professional who enjoys combining technical tax work with stakeholder coordination, process ownership and team support.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
CA or CPA qualified, or equivalent professional accounting qualification.
Relevant tax, finance, accounting or legal qualification is advantageous.
Experience
5–8+ years’ experience in corporate tax, tax accounting, public practice, Big 4 or a large corporate environment.
Strong hands-on experience with tax effect accounting, deferred tax, IFRS income tax reporting and financial statement tax disclosures.
Experience working in a multinational reporting environment and coordinating deliverables with external advisers, auditors and internal stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to manage recurring deadlines, prepare clear documentation and operate independently with appropriate escalation.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Delivery Management
Provide day-to-day guidance and supervision to junior tax team members, including review of workpapers, calculations and compliance deliverables.
Coordinate and follow up on inputs from regional finance managers, internal stakeholders and external advisers to ensure tax deliverables are completed accurately and on time.
Track priorities, support knowledge transfer and escalate technical, capacity or delivery risks as required.
Tax Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual tax provisions, including current and deferred tax calculations.
Maintain tax effect accounting models, IFRS tax disclosures, tax notes and supporting schedules for Group and statutory reporting.
Perform effective tax rate analysis, deferred tax and balance sheet reconciliations, and support audits, Group reporting and tax cashflow forecasting.
Global Tax Compliance
Coordinate direct and indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, including corporate income tax, GST/VAT, FBT, withholding tax and payroll-related tax matters.
Manage tax return, filing and payment deliverables with external advisers and regional finance teams, maintaining compliance calendars and tracking deadlines.
Monitor relevant tax law developments and support transfer pricing compliance, documentation and information gathering, with support from external advisers where required.
Governance, Compliance & Company Secretarial Support
Maintain tax governance documentation, compliance records, operating procedures and supporting workpapers.
Support company secretarial requirements, statutory filings, surveys, regulatory reporting and new entity setup requirements.
Assist with the implementation and maintenance of the Group’s Tax Governance Framework and adviser records.
Stakeholder Management
Lead day-to-day coordination with external advisers, auditors, tax authorities and regional finance teams on tax compliance, reporting, audit and governance deliverables.
Coordinate responses to tax audits, reviews and information requests, ensuring positions are documented and supported.
Partner with finance, legal, quality, compliance and business teams to provide practical tax, governance and regulatory support.
Projects & Continuous Improvement
Assist with mergers, acquisitions, integrations, restructuring and other special tax projects.
Identify opportunities to improve tax processes, controls, reporting tools and supporting documentation.
