What We’re Looking For
Trillium Health Resources has a career opening for a Senior Associate General Counsel to join our team! The Senior Associate General Counsel serves as a legal and compliance advisor for Trillium Health Resources. The Senior Associate General Counsel is primarily responsible for providing assistance and support to the General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer for a broad spectrum of matters, including those related to provider and vendor matters, third party liability, third party discovery requests and civil litigation, but may also provide advice and support on corporate issues, labor and employee matters, intellectual property, information technology, tax, finance, institutional governance and compliance, healthcare regulation, insurance, real estate, contracts, purchases and sales, strategic alliances, new initiatives, regulatory affairs, ethics, and other areas as required. The Senior Associate General Counsel also provides legal advice and assistance to Trillium business units, as appropriate, regarding Trillium operations.
On a typical day, you might:
- Implement policies and legal strategies to manage provider-related liabilities from inception through litigation. Provide legal and risk analysis, correspondence, internal and external coordination, and conduct negotiations to achieve desirable outcomes. When feasible, conduct litigation, including administrative hearings related to Medicaid appeals.
- Provide day-to-day support to business units in resolving contract, legal, compliance, and regulatory matters.
- Review and develop contracts, including complex commercial contracts and contracts with North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, assist in contract negotiation and monitoring and provide legal advice in the event of contract disputes. Provide legal advice in addressing non-compliance, terminations and related problems. Review and approve all final contracts as to form and with regard to legal and regulatory compliance.
- Provide education to Trillium staff on legal issues as requested; pursue professional development and continuing legal education by attending workshops/conferences related to health law and regulations.

Qualifications
Required:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA accredited law school.
- Minimum two (2) years of legal experience in North Carolina, in healthcare/managed care and/or federal or state government (Medicaid), to include dealing with regulatory matters and/or reviewing and negotiating complex contract terms.
- Licensed as an attorney in good standing in North Carolina.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must reside within North Carolina.
- Must be able to travel within the state as required.
Preferred:
- Practice experience within North Carolina Medicaid Managed Care and Medicaid Transformation.
- Practice experience with the North Carolina Office of Administrative Hearings.
- Experience working directly for or with a group/government-sponsored health plan/insurer.
