Job Summary:

Mt. Logan Capital Management, Ltd. and Mt. Logan Re, Ltd. (“Mt, Logan”) and Everest Global Services, Inc. members of Everest Group, Ltd. (together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, the “Company”), are currently seeking an Associate General Counsel and Transactional Counsel reporting to the Senior Vice President, Associate General Counsel.
This is a hybrid position based in either Warren, NJ or New York City working 3 days onsite, 2 remote.


Responsibilities:

Third-Party Capital Management

  • Provide counsel to Mt. Logan’s third-party capital management team, including with regards to its’ insurance-linked securities (ILS) offerings as well as collateralized reinsurance vehicles.
  • Advise on reinsurance-related aspects of strategic transactions within Mt. Logan, including capital markets transactions.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight on the provision of legal advice to Mt. Logan personnel.
  • Prepare and/or review key ILS transactions and other documentation and business proposals.
  • Attend meetings and provide timely communication to Mt. Logan management
  • Review and manage outside counsel process.
  • Assist in the development of legal policy and procedures where required.
  • Undertake legal research and analysis as required.
  • Preparation of monthly reporting, quarterly reviews and other analysis as requested.
  • Manage and partner with outside counsel to ensure high-quality work product.
  • Make strategic decisions with a focus on consistency and the big picture.
  • Support projects that are time-sensitive, highly visible inside and outside of the Company, and key to Everest Bermuda’s strategic initiatives.

Transactional Counsel

  • Support transactions and compliance in Investments, Treasury, Securities and Capital Solutions departments
  • Provide strategic legal advice, review and draft legal documentation, conduct and manage due diligence and transactional support on day-to-day matters, including M&A, insurance/reinsurance transactions, capital markets activity and cross-functional projects.
  • Provide regular updates to senior attorneys and coordinate with paralegals and compliance professionals, as appropriate.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of law firm experience at a Top Tier law firm, and/or in-house with a major reinsurance or insurance company; experience in financial services preferred.
  • Strong experience advising on and supporting complex insurance, corporate, investment management and/or reinsurance transactions.
  • Admitted and a member in good standing of the New Jersey, New York or other U.S. state bar association.
  • Insurance or Reinsurance experience and transactional background and experience in areas, including:
    • Structured and bespoke (re)insurance solutions
    • CAT Bonds and Insurance-Linked Securities (ILS)
    • Capital Markets
    • Collateralized sidecars/third party capital transactions (preferred)
  • Experience advising business clients on complex matters and emergent events. 
  • Candidates must possess strong negotiating and organizational skills, analytical ability, and excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong work ethic, attention to detail and collaborative work style

The base salary range for this position is $200,000 - $250,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location. All offers include access to a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, 401k match, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
