Company Description

For more than 20 years, KordaMentha has supported businesses through some of their most complex matters and opportunities. Founder owned and led; we are an advisory firm that helps corporations, financiers, lawyers, private investors and government clients to grow, protect and recover value.

That’s what we do, but it’s how we do this that makes us who we are.

Proudly independent, strategically local, and with a bias for action to get things done, we focus on doing what is right by our clients, our people, and the wider community. Our track record shows that we help navigate the best path forward in challenging times, and do so across cities, regions and territories.

In the most stressful or demanding environments, we continue to drive change where it really counts.

Job Description

Our top-tier Restructuring team works with organisations facing complex financial, operational and commercial challenges. We help clients navigate uncertainty, stabilise performance and deliver restructuring and turnaround solutions that protect, recover and create value for stakeholders. Our work spans a broad range of industries and situations, and no two engagements are the same.

As an Associate Director, you will lead complex engagements, manage key client relationships and drive the delivery of restructuring strategies. The role balances delivery excellence, team leadership and business development, with increasing accountability for commercial outcomes and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and delivery of restructuring and turnaround strategies across a range of industries.
  • Manage multiple engagements and workstreams simultaneously, ensuring high-quality outcomes, timeliness and commercial discipline.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, building trusted adviser relationships and contributing to strong stakeholder outcomes.
  • Oversee financial analysis, scenario modelling and the evaluation of restructuring options to support clear, strategic recommendations.
  • Guide clients through complex solutions, which may include distressed asset sales, capital structure reorganisation and debt and/or equity raising.
  • Lead and review pitch materials, proposals and client presentations, and contribute actively to business development opportunities.
  • Lead, coach and develop junior team members, fostering high performance, learning and professional growth.
  • Contribute to broader practice leadership initiatives and the continued growth and reputation of the Restructuring team.

Qualifications

You will be professionally qualified (CA or CPA) with 6–8 years’ experience in restructuring, corporate finance, consulting or a related advisory environment.

You will also bring:

  • Strong commercial judgement and strategic thinking.
  • Advanced analytical capability, including financial analysis, scenario modelling and the ability to interrogate complex data sets.
  • Advanced stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to build credibility and trust with senior clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare polished, client-ready reports, business cases and presentations.
  • The ability to lead teams and manage complex, high-pressure engagements while balancing competing priorities.
  • Strong project management capability, with accountability for scope, quality, delivery and commercial outcomes.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A mentoring mindset and genuine commitment to developing others.
  • High levels of integrity, accountability and discretion.
