Why This Role Matters:
We are seeking a strategic and experienced Reinsurance and Risk Management Consultant who will manage all aspects of the company’s reinsurance program, oversee the enterprise risk management function, and manage the company’s assumed reinsurance business. This is a highly visible role that will work closely with executive leadership and cross-functional teams to ensure the company’s risk profile and reinsurance strategies are aligned with its overall business objectives. The position reports to the Chief Actuary and Chief Risk Officer.
How You'll Contribute:
- Develop the reinsurance strategy for the property and casualty portfolio aligning with enterprise risk appetite and long-term capital optimization goals
- Design, negotiate, and implement reinsurance structures that support business strategy
- Manage relationships with brokers and reinsurers, including coordination of treaty renewals
- Analyze and assess reinsurance needs across lines of business
- Collaborate with actuarial and financial teams to monitor and report on reinsurance program performance, recoverables, and counterparty credit risk
- Manage the company’s assumed reinsurance business, including evaluating opportunities, structuring agreements, and overseeing portfolio performance
- Lead the enterprise risk management (ERM) function, including identifying, assessing, and reporting on key risks across the organization
- Oversee the development and implementation of risk policies, risk registers, and mitigation strategies
- Collaborate with actuarial, finance, operations, and legal teams to align reinsurance and risk management practices with operational and regulatory expectations
- Support regulatory reporting, rating agency interactions, and internal risk governance processes
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in the commercial property and casualty insurance industry preferably in reinsurance underwriting and/or enterprise risk management
- Strong understanding of reinsurance structures, risk management practices, and insurance operation
Compensation:
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $120,000/year to $140,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on factors such as market location, job-related skills, and experience.
