Job Description

The Associate Director, Immunology Payer Strategy will lead the development, evolution, and deployment of the SKYRIZI Psoriasis and Psoriatic Arthritis payer strategy and customer narrative to support business performance across the long-range plan.   This role will translate payer and customer insights, clinical and economic evidence, market performance, and the evolving access environment into differentiated, actionable strategies and messages. The Associate Director will serve as a strategic market access leader for the assigned brands, partnering across functions to ensure that payer needs and access considerations are integrated into brand strategy, evidence planning, customer engagement, and commercial execution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own and evolve the payer strategy and customer narrative for SKYRIZI psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, including the payer value proposition, customer segmentation, strategic priorities, annual brand plan inputs, and execution roadmap
  • Develop differentiated, evidence-based payer messaging by leveraging clinical data, health economic outcomes research, real-world evidence, treatment guidelines, and market performance data. Ensure that payer messages are relevant to customer needs and aligned with the overall payer strategy
  • Identify and prioritize evidence and RWE needs by assessing evidence gaps, defining payer-relevant evidence priorities, and partnering with Medical, HEOR, and other stakeholders to support development and translation of an integrated evidence strategy
  • Drive resource development through effective agency management; ensure appropriate governance and compliance by partnering with Legal, Regulatory, and Compliance to ensure that payer claims and materials are appropriately supported and consistent with applicable requirements
  • Establish performance measures and feedback mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of payer strategy, messaging, resource deployment, and customer engagement; use findings to refine strategy and execution
  • Serve as the Market Access subject matter expert for the Integrated Brand Teams, providing strategic guidance on payer dynamics, access messaging, brand planning, evidence needs, and competitive readiness
  • Partner within the Immunology Payer Strategy Team to ensure alignment with SKYRIZI and portfolio value propositions, promote consistency, and coordinate training, deployment, and maintenance of Payer Team resources
  • Lead cross-functional workstreams and facilitate strategic alignment across Medical Payer Strategy, HEOR, Trade, Patient Services, Brand Marketing, and other internal partner
  • Influence without direct authority by building productive relationships, driving timely decisions, mediating cross-functional issues, and communicating recommendations effectively to stakeholders and senior leaders
  • Anticipate and prepare for changes in the access environment, including competitor clinical and economic evidence, contracting and formulary strategies, policy developments, guideline changes, customer landscape evolution, and other market dynamics that may affect SKYRIZI’s payer positioning
  • Demonstrate a “One AbbVie” mindset by considering enterprise priorities, seeking opportunities to leverage learning across brands and therapeutic areas, and sharing effective approaches across the broader Market Access organization
