Job Summary:
In this position you will analyze and report on the financial performance of our life and annuity business, supports the planning and forecasting process, and provides ad hoc analysis for strategic initiatives. Additionally, the role will support investor relations activities and participate in due diligence processes related to potential investments, acquisitions, or divestitures. The Associate Director is an individual contributor who collaborates closely with members of Financial Reporting, Investment Accounting, Actuarial, Tax, Investor Relations, and other teams. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of FP&A, this position is a collaborative individual contributor role.
Main Accountabilities:
- Analyze the trends of key performance indicators (KPIs), especially relating to financial metrics such as sales, expenses, and profit margin, and key investor metrics.
- Monitor financial statements and KPIs in PowerBI and identify the cause of any unexpected variances for both Statutory and Management bases of accounting.
- Evaluate the financial impact of various business segments and strategic initiatives.
- Prepare reporting and analysis regarding regulatory capital, financial performance relative to competitors, investor expectations, and institutional product offerings.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide relevant financial information and analysis.
- Prepare and present financial reports and dashboards to senior management and stakeholders.
- Prepare materials for investor presentations, including financial performance updates and strategic initiatives.
- Assist in responding to investor inquiries and due diligence requests, providing accurate and timely information.
- Monitor and analyze competitor performance and industry trends to inform investor messaging.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- CPA or other relevant industry credentials preferred.
- 5+ years of experience with insurance financials, preferably life and annuity experience, with exposure to investor relations or due diligence activities preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other relevant software.
- Experience with PowerBI, SQL, Workiva, or other business intelligence and database tools a plus.
- Knowledge of insurance accounting principles and practices, including Statutory accounting (NAIC), and familiarity with SEC reporting requirements and investor relations best practices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills required, with the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
