POSITION SUMMARY

The Associate Director Commercial Operations will be responsible for supporting commercial decision-making through robust forecasting, high-quality data analytics, market research, competitive intelligence, and strong commercial data stewardship.

The successful candidate will be a hands-on commercial operations professional with strong analytical capabilities, a collaborative team player with excellent business partnering skills and the ability to operate effectively in a dynamic, entrepreneurial biotech environment. This person will work closely with Brand Leads, Country General Managers, Commercial Leadership, Finance, Market Access, Medical, and external vendors to generate insights, manage forecasting processes, and support strategic and operational commercial planning.

This position requires an onsite presence in Zug, offering the opportunity to be deeply integrated into Mirum’s thriving company culture (remote working allowed according to Mirum policy and to be defined with the reporting manager).

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

 Forecasting & Business Planning

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of commercial forecasting models across brands and countries.
  • Partner with Country General Managers, Brand Leads, Finance, and Commercial Leadership and facilitate the creation & update of country level mid & long-range forecasts
  • Ensure forecasts are transparent, assumption-driven, well documented, and aligned with Finance and Commercial Leadership.
  • Identify key forecast risks and opportunities and provide clear recommendations to support business decisions.

Market Research & Competitive Intelligence

  • Partner with Brand Leads and Commercial Leadership to define research and competitive intelligence priorities aligned to key business questions.
  • Develop research briefs, select methodologies, manage RFPs, evaluate vendor proposals, and oversee projects from briefing to final delivery.
  • Support qualitative and quantitative research including market assessments, customer insights, patient journeys, ATUs.
  • Monitor competitive landscape across public sources (competitor activity, clinical trials, regulatory updates, congresses, investor materials, market access developments, and commercial signals).
  • Translate findings and competitive developments into actionable commercial implications for brand strategy, forecasting, launch planning, and decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with internal legal, procurement, compliance, and pharmacovigilance requirements.

Commercial Data, Analytics & Data Stewardship

  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and analytics tools (e.g., Snowflake, Power BI, Tableau, Excel) to support decision-making at regional, and country level.
  • Track & Analyze sales performance, market dynamics, launch performance and key commercial KPIs.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for Brand Leads, Country GMs, Commercial Leadership, and cross-functional teams.
  • Act as commercial data steward, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, completeness, and fitness for business use, including governance, metric definitions, reporting standards, and documentation.
  • Identify opportunities to automate reporting and improve efficiency, scalability, and reliability of analytics processes.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education /Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master's a plus, preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Sciences or a related field.
  • >5 years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences, or healthcare-related commercial roles.
  • Relevant experience in Commercial Operations, Business Analytics, Forecasting, Market Research, Competitive Intelligence, Commercial Excellence, Finance Business Partnering, or Strategy.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Advanced Excel and forecasting model development skills.
  • Strong Power BI capability, including dashboard development and data visualization.
  • Experience working with Snowflake or similar cloud-based data platforms.
  • Ability to work with structured commercial datasets, including sales, account, market access, CRM, market research, competitive intelligence, and performance data.
  • SQL, VBA, Python knowledge and how to leverage AI tools is highly desirable.
  • Experience with CRM systems such as Salesforce or Veeva is a plus.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical data sources, secondary market data, claims data, prescription data, CRM data, or patient-level data is beneficial.
  • Understanding of compliance considerations related to market research, data handling, and pharmaceutical commercial activities.
  • Collaborative, hands-on team player, comfortable operating in ambiguity and thinking outside the box

Mirum’s second investigational treatment, volixibat, also an oral IBAT inhibitor, is being evaluated in three potentially registrational studies including the OHANA Phase 2b study for pregnant women with intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy, VISTAS Phase 2b study for adults with primary sclerosing cholangitis, and the VANTAGE Phase 2b study for primary biliary cholangitis.
