Position Title and Job Summary:

The Associate Director of Athletics for Sports Performance reports to the Director of Athletics and serves as a member of the department’s senior management team. This position supervises and coordinates the University’s sports medicine services and strength and conditioning services for a 16-sport Division 1 athletics program competing in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. This individual will also design and maintain the training room operation.

• Develops all healthcare, S-A welfare, emergency action and SOP procedures and policies as well as training room regulations.

• Develops the administrative policy for the sports medicine department in cooperation with the Director of Athletics.

• Serves as a member of the department’s senior management team.

• Supervises all operations of the training room and the strength and conditioning operations.

• Implements the systems of evaluation, injury prevention, management, rehabilitation, and tracking.

• In conjunction with the head team physician and/or Chief Medical Officer, oversees and manages contracts with health care providers.

• Provides leadership and manages the assignments of the athletic training staff; ensuring appropriate athletic training coverage at home and away athletic events in and out of season.

• The position is responsible for providing direct athletic training services to all programs to include: injury prevention, evaluation, management, and treatment of athletic injuries, short-term and long-term rehabilitation of athletic injuries, education and counseling of student-athletes, and athletics related health care administration in consultation with and under the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, Team Physician(s) and other qualified medical personnel.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000

Required Qualifications:

• The Associate Director for Sports Performance is responsible for supporting the philosophy, goals and mission of the University and the Department of Athletics as well as adherence to Departmental, University, MAAC and the NCAA policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience developing and maintaining community partnerships.

• Experience working directly with community-based organizations.

Education:

• Master’s Degree required. 

• Must be certified by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification (NATABOC).

Experience:

 At least five years of full-time experience in intercollegiate athletics department in a supervisory role.

Working Conditions:

This position includes working nights and weekends in support of scheduled events as required.

Physical Requirements:

The position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and move athletic training equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach for extended periods while providing medical coverage for practices, competitions, and other athletic events. The position also requires the ability to respond quickly to on-field injuries, assist with the transportation of injured student-athletes when appropriate, and perform repetitive physical tasks associated with athletic training and sports medicine services.
