As part of its asset lifecycle strategy, Globeleq is seeking an Associate Business Intelligence (BI) Specialist who will play a key role in developing, implementing, and optimizing the Asset Management System (AMS) in alignment with ISO 55000 and other relevant international standards. The specialist will work closely with business units to improve systems, processes, and data management in maintenance, materials management, and ERP systems. This role will ensure alignment with the organization’s strategic goals and the successful adoption of asset management systems and business processes.
Additionally, the Associate BI Specialist will identify inefficiencies within business operations, leveraging relevant software and services to create insightful reports, dashboards, and visualizations that enhance decision-making and business performance. This role supports remote sites across South Africa and will occasionally require travel to these sites, as well as occasional international travel to Globeleq’s African power plants.

Key Responsibilities
  1. O&M Support
    1. Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the ERP system, ensuring alignment with ISO 55000 standards for the renewable energy plant portfolio.
    2. Collaborate with the ERP Service Centre to manage site-specific ERP cases.
    3. Provide ad hoc training for site teams on O&M and Supply Chain processes within the ERP system.
    4. Support stock-taking processes across all sites, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
    5. Manage and maintain ERP master data, including inventory, supplier information, MRP, equipment trees, and maintenance plans.
  2. Business Process and Performance Analysis
    1. Develop, implement, and embed key business processes and procedures, including change management, maintenance planning, work order management, materials management, and risk management.
    2. Coordinate and analyse the monthly Asset Management Scorecard for all operational sites.
    3. Develop and implement advanced reporting to facilitate data-driven decision-making, synthesizing financial, technical, maintenance, and performance data. 
    4. Participate in site audits to ensure compliance with O&M and Supply Chain standards and processes.
    5. Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify current and future data needs, converting these into technical specifications for data analysis. 
  3.  Perform other activities in line with the role as requested by the line manager and other department heads. 

Skills and Competencies
  1. Understanding of Industrial Engineering tools such as 5S and focused improvement methodologies.
  2. Excellent data analysis and troubleshooting skills. 
  3. High attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  4. Experience using process charts and reporting tools such as PowerBI.
  5. Exceptional verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  6. Very good written communication, including clear, concise e-mail communication and report writing.
  7. Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively
  8. Team-oriented, with a collaborative approach to work
  9. Able to work independently and effectively under limited supervision.
  10. Committed to continuous training and learning.

Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications
  1. The following experience and qualifications are a minimum requirement.
    1. A BTech or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
    2. Minimum of 2 years’ working experience in developing and implementing business systems and processes, especially those related to management of change, risk management and asset management. 
    3. Working knowledge or experience with implementing/use of CMMS/ERP systems to support business processes.
    4. Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel PowerPoint, Project and PowerBI. 
    5. Code 8 driver’s license or similar is required. 
  2. The following experience and qualifications would be an advantage to an applicant.
    1. Basic knowledge of machine and deep learning tools and software.
    2. Prior work experience in an industrial, or power generation environment, particularly solar photovoltaic or wind energy.
    3. Prior work experiences in processes such as asset care plan development, building equipment trees, inventory counts, materials resource planning and equipment identification and verification
    4. Knowledge of ISO55000 or PAS55 experience.
