Job Summary
The Associate Athletic Director for Business Affairs oversees the financial operations of the athletics department at LSU New Orleans, ensuring fiscal integrity, compliance, and strategic resource management. This role serves as a key member of senior athletics leadership, supporting the Athletic Director (AD) and Deputy Athletic Director in budgeting, revenue management, and financial planning. The Associate Athletic Director for Business Affairs reports to the Deputy Athletic Director.Job Description

Financial Management & Budget Oversight

  • Develop, monitor, and manage the athletics department’s annual operating budget

  • Provide regular financial reports, projections, and variance analyses to the Deputy AD.

  • Oversee budget planning processes with athletic programs and administrative units.

Accounting & Fiscal Operations

  • Supervise all accounting functions, including: Accounts payable/receivable; General ledger; Financial reconciliation, including special events.

  • Ensure adherence to institutional, conference, and state financial policies.

  • Coordinate with university finance offices for audits and reporting.

Revenue & Expense Management

  • Track and manage revenue streams such as: Ticket sales; Sponsorships; Media rights distributions; NIL Rev Share Payments.

  • Monitor expenditures to maintain budget compliance and cost controls.

NCAA & Conference Financial Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with NCAA financial reporting requirements, including: EADA (Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act); NCAA financial reporting forms.

  • Support compliance with Southland Conference (SLC) rules and policies (e.g., spending limits, revenue distribution models).

  • Collaborate with compliance staff on financial aspects regarding NCAA and SLC standards.

Strategic Planning & Decision Support

  • Provide financial insight to support: Sport sponsorship decisions; Facility projects; NIL-related resource allocation

  • Assist in long-term financial forecasting and strategic initiatives.

Contracts & Procurement

  • Review and approve: Vendor agreements; Game contracts; Travel agreements.

  • Ensure financial terms align with institutional policies.

  • Oversee procurement processes for equipment, services, and travel.

Travel & Operations Oversight

  • Supervise team travel budgets, including: Transportation; Lodging; Meals/per diem.

Personnel Supervision

  • Oversee business office staff (e.g. Assistant Athletic Director, Business Operations, GAs ).

  • Provide leadership, training, and performance evaluation.

External Relations & Reporting

  • Serve as liaison with: University finance departments; SLC office; External auditors

  • Prepare financial materials LSU Board of Supervisors, LSU New Orleans Chief Financial Officer, University Auditors, and the LSU System Auditors.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field

  • One to four years in financial management, preferably in collegiate athletics, higher education or equivalent.

  • Demonstrated experience with: Budget development and oversight; Supervisory responsibilities.

Desired Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (MBA, MPA, or Sports Administration)

  • Five or more years in financial management, preferably in collegiate athletics, higher education or the equivalent

  • Experience with: NCAA / NAIA financial operations; NIL related budget allocations.

Relevant Skills

  • Strong financial analysis and reporting capability

  • Advanced Excel and financial systems proficiency

  • Leadership and communication skills

  • Ability to translate financial data into actionable decisions
