About Team:

Technology & Development Operations (TDO) sits within Platform & Ecosystem Engineering, part of the firm’s Platform Enablement organization. Platform Enablement is a horizontal capability focused on scaling execution, modernizing foundational platforms, and accelerating delivery across Business Operations and Client Services in close partnership with Aladdin Engineering.

TDO operates at the intersection of business process, technology, and delivery. We work directly with operational teams to identify workflow challenges, translate business needs into technical solutions, and build pragmatic tools and automations that improve scale, resilience, and efficiency across core operating platforms.

The role is part of the Technology & Development Operations team, and is responsible for designing, developing, and delivering technical solutions to the organization’s workflow challenges. The role requires a deep understanding of the functions within Business Operations and Client Services to better comprehend the challenges faced by these functions.

Key Responsibilities:

Solution Design & Development

  •  Design, build, and maintain targeted technical solutions to address workflow inefficiencies and scaling challenges.

  • Develop tools, automations, data-driven utilities, and AIenabled solutions that are productionminded and businessfocused.

  • Apply sound objectoriented programming principles and basic software design patterns, with an emphasis on readability, maintainability, and correctness.

Business Analysis & Problem Framing

  • Partner closely with business stakeholders to understand currentstate processes, identify gaps or risks, and translate needs into clear technical requirements.

  • Break down ambiguous problems into actionable solution approaches, balancing technical elegance with practical delivery constraints.

  • Validate that delivered solutions meaningfully address the original business problem and drive measurable benefit.

Delivery & Execution

  • Own discrete pieces of work from intake through delivery, including scoping, prioritization, testing, and rollout.

  • Where appropriate, play a projectmanagement role to ensure dependencies, timelines, and risks are clearly understood.

Platform & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work alongside internal technology teams and platform partners to align solutions with broader platform standards and capabilities.

  • Support adoption by documenting solutions, walking users through changes, and incorporating feedback into iterative improvements.

  • Help ensure delivered solutions are supportable, resilient, and aligned with risk and operational discipline.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

  • 3-6 years of experience in a Developer or Business Analyst role, with exposure to developing and implementing AI-based solutions preferred.

  • Proficiency and hands-on experience with Python programming language as well as strong SQL and database knowledge, including writing production‑quality scripts, queries, or small applications.

  • Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) and development workflows (e.g., Azure DevOps).

  • Exposure to Agile methodologies (backlogs, sprints, iterative delivery).

  • Working knowledge of object‑oriented programming concepts and basic software design principles.

  • Exposure to cloud platforms or AI‑enabled tooling (e.g., Azure‑based services, automation frameworks, or LLM‑enabled solutions).

  • Understanding of machine learning models, including large language models (LLMs) and other neural networks.

  • Interest in the investment management industry and investment products.

Competencies:

  • The ability to manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring that they are delivered on time and within time estimates.

  • Comfortable operating in ambiguous problem spaces and helping shape both the question and the answer.

  • Able to switch between developer mindset and business analyst mindset as the situation requires.

  • Curious about emerging technology and automation, with good judgment about where it adds real value.

  • Collaborative, accountable, and comfortable working across teams and functions.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (in English) to convey sophisticated concepts simply and clearly

What We Do

As the world’s largest asset manager, BlackRock partners with investors around the globe to help them (and those on whose behalf they invest) plan for life’s most important goals – like retirement, home ownership and their children’s education. Our clients range from governments, foundations and other large institutions to those investing on behalf of individuals, including firefighters, nurses, teachers and factory workers. BlackRock was founded with the idea of creating a better asset management firm — one that was purpose-driven, focused on clients and risk management, and propelled by data and technology. Our breakthrough Aladdin® platform is BlackRock’s technological backbone, helping investors see and manage their whole portfolios in one place – from constructing investments to monitoring risk and executing trades. Used by hundreds of external institutions around the world, Aladdin combines powerful analytics and a common language to help investment teams make faster, more informed decisions across public and private markets. It’s a key part of our business and one of the reasons we’re trusted to manage more assets than any other investment manager today. At BlackRock, we challenge conventions and raise the bar for what’s possible. We harness technology to unlock new solutions, simplify complexity, and deliver investment strategies that meet people where they are. Whether it’s retirement planning, wealth building or navigating market shifts, we’re here to help clients invest more easily, more affordably and with more choice as we chart a path toward financial well-being together.
