The Associate Alfresco Software Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications using Alfresco's enterprise content management (ECM) platform. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Alfresco, a deep understanding of ECM concepts, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Position Responsibilities:
- Alfresco Platform Administration & Maintenance:
- Install, configure, and administer the Alfresco Content Services platform (Community and Enterprise versions).
- Manage upgrades, patches, and performance tuning for Alfresco environments.
- Monitor and troubleshoot system performance and availability issues.
- Competent in conducting daily development and operational tasks in a Linux environment.
- Development & Customization:
- Analyze, design, and develop on the Alfresco platform, optimizing existing system functionalities.
- Develop custom modules, scripts, workflows, and extensions using Java
- Write Java-based services to integrate Alfresco with other systems via APIs or web services (e.g., REST, SOAP).
- System Integration and Support:
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate Alfresco with other enterprise systems (e.g., ERPs, CRMs).
- Provide support for users and stakeholders, handling escalations and debugging issues effectively.
- Collaborate with DevOps teams for CI/CD pipelines, deployments, and backups.
- Documentation & Best Practices:
- Maintain technical documentation, installation guides, and configuration playbooks.
- Establish and promote best practices in Alfresco configuration and development.
- Training & Mentorship:
- Provide hands-on training, knowledge-sharing sessions, and technical guidance to engineers and teammates on Alfresco engineering concepts and best practices.
- Develop training materials and documentation for internal teams to enhance their skills in Alfresco development, configuration, and administration.
- Foster a collaborative learning environment and encourage continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of experience in application development and maintenance
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Java and Alfresco SDK and Tomcat.
- Strong expertise in Java programming, familiar with frameworks such as Spring Boot/Spring MVC
- Experience in scripting languages (e.g., JavaScript, Python).
- In-depth understanding of content models, workflows, and Alfresco-specific APIs.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix environments for system administration.
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) and troubleshooting SQL queries.
- Knowledge of web services protocols (REST/SOAP) and system integrations.
- Experience with Alfresco Process Services (APS) or Activiti workflow engines.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with JavaScript and modern front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue)
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or cloud-based Alfresco deployments.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins or Git.
- Hands-on experience with Azure.
- Knowledge of Apache Tomcat and Nginx for Alfresco hosting.
