Job Summary:
As an Associate Accountant, you will be an integral part of the Finance function. You will use your strong accounting skills and knowledge of the full-cycle accounting process to complete a diverse range of duties within the Finance team, while driving process improvements and efficiencies. You are a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, a keen attention to detail and above average abilities with business systems. Whether working independently or within a team, you thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, contributing to an already exceptional Finance team!
How You Will Make an Impact:
- Prepare weekly and monthly bank reconciliation reports and verification of accounts regarding cash on hand and cash at bank, including monitoring of banking activities to detect irregularities
- Assist with the coordination of bank accounts including wire transfers and foreign exchange, as well as cash forecasting
- Lead the accounts payable function, including: matching, checking and processing invoices/credits for payment; preparing weekly cheque runs; issuing electronic payment of invoices; ensuring proper terms are set up with each vendor and invoices are paid in a timely fashion; and reconciling vendor statements and resolving invoice discrepancies
- Help with the month-end close process, including reconciliation of G/L accounts and journal entry posting, ensuring deadlines are met
- Prepare, reconcile and analyze various financial accounts, reports and supporting documentation, as required
- Respond to internal and external inquiries, providing a positive customer service experience
- Assist auditors with documentation required to perform their job satisfactorily
- Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned
What You’ll Bring to the Role:
- Relevant accounting experience
- Experience with end-to-end accounts payable
- Experience assisting with financial audits
- Experience in a global, multi-currency organization is an asset
- Experience with accounting software is considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced experience with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, allowing you to logically solve problems
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills
- Interest in process improvement and ability to demonstrate innovative thinking
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently
Education Recommendations:
- Postsecondary education in business and finance/accounting
Location Information: This role is open to applicants within Ontario. Our ideal candidate is located in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and is able to work in a hybrid model at our global HQ (137 Glasgow Street Suite 560, Kitchener).
The expected base salary range for a new hire in this role is listed below. The annualized base salary offered is determined by each candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, training and experience. It is aligned to ensure both internal and external competitiveness using market data for the geographic location and industry. As part of the total compensation at D2L the role may be eligible for additional benefits including a Wellness Subsidy, Equity Grants, Variable Incentive, and more.
Base Salary Range
$60,250—$70,000 CAD
