Global Atlantic is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President, Statutory Reporting to lead and support statutory accounting and reporting functions. This role is responsible for monitoring and implementing statutory accounting and regulatory changes, evaluating new business transactions and reinsurance arrangements, and ensuring accurate and timely statutory financial reporting in compliance with insurance regulatory requirements. 
 
Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the preparation, review, and analysis of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements, statutory disclosures, and related regulatory filings. 
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development support to team members while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. 
  • Assess the impact of accounting and regulatory changes on quarterly and annual reporting processes and recommend appropriate implementation strategies. 
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Finance, Actuarial, Investments, Legal, Operations, and other business areas to resolve accounting and reporting matters and support strategic initiatives. 
  • Analyze financial results and investigate variances, trends, and reporting issues within statutory financial statements and supporting schedules. 
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of statutory accounting processes, controls, and reporting frameworks. 
  • Coordinate and support annual statutory audits, including managing auditor requests, reviewing deliverables, and resolving audit findings. 
  • Research and interpret complex accounting guidance and regulatory requirements, providing technical accounting recommendations to management and business partners. 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field. 
  • CPA designation preferred. 
  • 6-8+ years of progressive statutory accounting and reporting experience within the life insurance and annuity industry. 
  • Leadership experience managing, mentoring, or developing accounting and financial reporting professionals. 
  • Experience preparing and reviewing statutory financial statements, Blue Books, Green Books, and related regulatory filings. 
  • Strong understanding of financial reporting processes, accounting controls, and month-end/quarter-end close activities. 
  • Demonstrated ability to research and interpret complex accounting and regulatory guidance and apply conclusions to business transactions. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with financial reporting and general ledger systems, including Oracle PeopleSoft or similar platforms. 
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.
