Encova Insurance is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Infrastructure and Operations. The role will work from our corporate office in Columbus, Ohio.

JOB OBJECTIVE:

The Assistant Vice President of Infrastructure Services is responsible for overseeing the organization’s IT infrastructure and operations, ensuring it aligns with the business’s strategic goals, and supports its growth and operational needs. This role involves the management of systems, data centers, cloud services, networks, hardware, and enterprise IT solutions. The role requires strategic planning, execution, and ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability of IT infrastructure across the company.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Develop and execute the long-term infrastructure strategy in alignment with the company’s objectives and vision. 
  • Drive the innovation, design, and implementation of cutting-edge infrastructure technologies, including cloud services, hybrid solutions, and automation tools. 
  • Work closely with senior management to ensure that infrastructure investments support business growth, operational efficiency, and overall technology transformation. 
  • Lead, mentor, and manage the infrastructure services team, including engineers, architects, and operational staff. 
  • Ensure continuous training and development of the infrastructure team to maintain high levels of technical competence and innovation. 
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, performance, and accountability within the team. 
  • Oversee the management and optimization of all IT infrastructure, including on-premise data centers, cloud-based platforms, network systems, and hardware. 
  • Implement and monitor high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies. 
  • Ensure effective capacity planning and scaling of infrastructure to meet growing business demands. 
  • Lead the implementation and enforcement of security policies and best practices across the infrastructure. 
  • Work with the cybersecurity team to ensure all infrastructure systems are protected from external threats and comply with industry regulations. 
  • Manage audits and assessments to ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards. 
  • Oversee relationships with external vendors, service providers, and partners, ensuring SLAs are met and strategic value is derived from partnerships. 
  • Manage the infrastructure services budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions while meeting service level objectives. 
  • Negotiate contracts and manage the procurement process for infrastructure-related products and services. 
  • Take a lead role in resolving critical incidents and mitigating infrastructure-related risks. 
  • Implement and monitor best practices in ITIL-based incident, problem, and change management processes to minimize downtime and service disruption. 
  • Innovation & Automation: 
  • Lead initiatives for automation of routine infrastructure tasks, using DevOps practices and tools to improve efficiency and reduce human error. 
  • Research and introduce innovative infrastructure solutions, including emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and edge computing, to enhance business operations. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, required.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert, ITIL, Certified Network Professional) are highly desirable.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, including 10+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale IT infrastructure, including cloud environments, data centers, network services, and enterprise systems.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and driving organizational change.
  • Strong background in infrastructure automation, cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP), virtualization, and network design.
  • Expertise in cloud architecture, data center management, and enterprise networking.
  • Strong knowledge of infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS), platform-as-a-service (PaaS), and software-as-a-service (SaaS) models.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), automation tools (Ansible, Terraform), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies like VMware, Hyper-V, or OpenStack.
  • In-depth understanding of security protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, SOC2, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively interact with senior leadership, stakeholders, and technical teams. 
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines. 
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to balance technical needs with organizational goals.
