Title: Assistant Technical Designer
Salary Range: $65-$75k
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
The Assistant Technical Designer is an entry-level support role and responsible for supporting the management of styles through the fit approval process. This role interacts with Design, Merchandising, Product Development, Production, Sales, Vendors and Quality Assurance. The Assistant Technical Designer will support the technical design team across categories, contributing to technical design responsibilities while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
- Assist technical designer in collaboration with cross functional partners to obtain clear direction on design, fit intent and construction
- Assist in effectively communicating fit intent, balance and construction to vendors via fit notes, diagrams, digital photos or directly onto patterns
- Assist in evaluating garments to finalize fit intent, spec and construction
- Assist in managing block libraries to support fit consistency
- Assist and learn the application of grade rules for a product category
- Support and tracking of workflow and ensure seasonal deadlines are met
- Participate in departmental and cross functional meetings
- Study the competition and understand current and future trends and technology in the marketplace
- Hold self and others accountable for work commitments and outcomes

Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Patternmaking, Apparel Manufacturing, Design
- 1+ years’ experience in the apparel industry including patternmaking and construction with full knowledge of production timeline
- Entry level patternmaking, grading, construction and fit support experience
- Problem solving and decision quality: ability to analyze and learn about manufacturing process
- Relationship Management: ability to build constructive and effective relationships with all cross functional partners
- Priority Setting: ability to organize work appropriately
- Process Management: ability to follow process to get things done efficiently
- Possess strong organizational and time management skills
- Demonstrate strong listening, written and oral communication skills
- Systems and Tool Acumen:
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS Word, Powerpoint
- Proficiency in Illustrator Software: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop
- Some computer patternmaking programs: Gerber, Lectra
- Some experience in computer spec writing programs: PLM, PDM
