Tenure-track Assistant Professor of Public History who may specialize in any practice of public history, including but not limited to archival work, cultural resources management, digital history, film and media production, historic preservation, local history, museum exhibition and curation, oral history, and site interpretation. We welcome applications from historians of any time period or geographic area. We seek candidates who will develop connections with Memphis-area institutions.

Responsibilities
The University of Memphis is a Carnegie R 1 institution. Candidates are to provide high-quality instruction, pursue excellence in research/scholarship/creative activity, and contribute to meaningful service to the university and contribute to the missions of teaching, research / scholarship / creative activity, and public service. Teaching responsibilities include one survey-level course per semester that satisfies the university's General Education requirements in History and will offer also upper-level courses and graduate seminars that train students in the practices of public history.
Qualifications
A Ph.D. in History is required upon appointment. Evidence of potential ability in instruction, service, and research. Professional comportment consistent with the Faculty Code of Conduct.
