Job Summary:

The Department of Public Health (est. 2024) housed in the School of Applied Sciences at the University of Mississippi is seeking applications for an Assistant Professor. This is a 9-month tenure-track position to begin as early as January 2027. Applicants should have expertise in epidemiology as the responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate public health courses in epidemiology. Applicants should demonstrate a record of, or strong potential for, an active and sustainable research program. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the Department’s mission, participate in service to the Department, School, University, and/or community, and collaborate with faculty and external partners as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Doctoral degree in public health or a health-related field by the time of employment
• Master’s degree in public health (MPH) or a health-related field
• Evidence of an active research agenda in public health, epidemiology, or a related area, with qualifications and scholarly accomplishments consistent with rank.
• Evidence of the ability or potential to secure competitive extramural research funding.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the US on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

• General epidemiologist with coursework in infectious diseases, but capable of teaching most undergraduate or MPH courses
• History of developing or working with partnerships with epidemiological agencies on the local, state, or federal level and involvement in professional organizations
• Experience developing and teaching online and hybrid courses
