The Assistant Professor of Exercise Science teaches courses for the Exercise Science major. This position requires classroom and laboratory experience teaching in Kinesiology. Other teaching responsibilities may include Exercise for Special Populations, Motor Learning and Control, Personal and Community Health, Management for Wellness Professionals, Research Methods, and Thesis. They also advise students; participate in accreditation processes; engage in professional scholarship or development; assist in the development of internship relationships and student opportunities; and participate in school and college-wide service. They will teach undergraduate courses and advise students for two semesters.
This position is covered by the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Endicott College Faculty Association (ECFA) and Endicott College. ECFA is a faculty union organized under the NEA (National Educational Association) and provides structure and support for all full-time faculty at Endicott College.
The annual work period for this role is 9 months.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Teach 24 credits per academic year -- 12 credits in both the fall and spring semesters (4 lecture courses each semester, or equivalent).
- Advise up to 25 students.
- Attend department, school, and college meetings.
- Participate in accreditation processes.
- Engage in professional development, scholarship, research, and/or publishing.
- Assist in curriculum development.
- Participate in department, school, and college service.
- Maintain and post regular office hours.
- Perform other duties as required and as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Endicott College Faculty Association (ECFA) and Endicott College.
- This position teaches undergraduate courses.
Requirements/Qualifications (these can be adapted according to the position)
- Doctoral Degree preferred.
- Evidence of professional experience and/or ongoing scholarly activities (research, publications, presentations, etc.) that enhance teaching and deepen knowledge base in subject areas.
- Two to five years’ college-level teaching experience.
- Desire to work in a student – centered, teaching oriented institution
- Knowledge of technology related to laboratory equipment and instruction;
- Demonstrated ability to mentor students
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
In compliance with Massachusetts pay transparency law, the compensation for this faculty position is established through the College’s contractual salary structure. Pay rates are set for each faculty rank and appointment type. This position carries a fixed annual salary of $ 92,893.02 for a 9-month appointment. This amount represents base salary only and does not include benefits or other forms of compensation.
