The Missouri Southern State University Department of Language and Literature invites applications for an Assistant Professor in creative writing, appointment to begin August 1, 2027. Department faculty teach twelve credits per semester, with first-year writing comprising half the load. The remainder of the load will come from courses in creative writing (covering all four genres), general education literature surveys, and other courses appropriate to background. Secondary specialties of particular interest include professional and technical writing, world literature, or American literature to 1865. The successful applicant will also serve as faculty advisor to bordertown, MSSU’s student literary journal. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. or a terminal degree in English or a closely related discipline prior to August 1, 2027.
