Position Overview 

As the Assistant Processing Manager for Portfolio, you are a boots on the ground leader for both new and experienced processors. You are in the weeds with your team every day. You know portfolio guidelines extremely well, which for us means chattel and land home products. You answer the guideline questions, help with underwriting issues, and rush files when they need to move. You work directly with team members to keep loans efficient, high quality, and closing on time, all while following Cascade's Commitment to Service. 

You report to the Processing Manager and keep them informed on how the team is doing and where it is struggling. The role asks you to balance hands on support with the management duties below, based on what the department needs that day. You must be able to adapt quickly to changing priorities and step in to assist in a variety of tasks whenever needed.

Key Responsibilities 

Pipeline and Production 

  • Actively monitor and manage team pipelines so files keep moving 
  • Make sure published SLAs and benchmarks are met and that dashboards stay current 
  • Monitor aged and expiring loans and reduce turn times between milestones against set goals 
  • Be the go-to person on portfolio (chattel and land home) guidelines. Answer scenario questions, help with underwriting issues, and rush files when needed 
  • Cover pipelines while processors are out of the office 
  • Provide focused support to lift production at the individual processor level 

Team Support and Quality 

  • Respond to daily processor scenario questions and escalate to the Processing Manager when needed 
  • Review new processor file submissions and clear to close submissions for accuracy and give feedback 
  • Complete weekly follow ups with team members on improvement plans 
  • Manage the vacation calendar, timecards, and anniversary dates for the team 
  • Recommend process changes and create tickets to improve efficiency. Speak up across departments when you see a better way 
  • Handle first level customer and retailer complaints 
  • Cover team pipelines as needed 

Training Support 

  • Partner with the management and training teams to support an effective, scalable training program for portfolio processors 
  • Help onboard new team members with a clean handoff from HR, and get them set up with usernames, passwords, shortcuts, logs, and folders 
  • Lead training classes as needed using adult learning techniques that keep trainees engaged 
  • Provide weekly evaluations of each team member's progress to management 
  • Special projects and other duties as needed 

Requirements and Qualifications 

  • Manufactured Housing knowledge required  
  • Minimum 3 years of processing experience 
  • Strong, current knowledge of how portfolio guidelines work, including chattel and land home products. 
  • Track record of meeting or exceeding department goals 
  • Shown leadership qualities, regardless of title, and enjoys developing other team members. 
  • Recent working knowledge of Encompass 
  • Patient, with the ability to work under deadline pressure and manage competing priorities. 
  • Strong interpersonal communication, listening, and time management skills 
  • Construction to Permanent Financing experience a plus
