Position Summary:
The Assistant Plant Manager partners closely with production, maintenance, engineering, quality, and distribution teams to drive operational excellence, improve efficiency, and support continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a key leadership role in developing team members, strengthening Service Wire’s safety-first culture, and supporting plant-wide performance goals.
Tasks/Duties/Responsibilities:
- Promote a safety-first culture by leading by example and ensuring safe work practices across all departments
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards
- Participate in safety audits, incident investigations, and corrective action implementation
- Ensure plant maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment
- Maintain active role on internal continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and cost performance
- Assist the Plant Manager in overseeing daily manufacturing operations to meet Safety, Quality, Delivery (OTD), and Cost objectives
- Coordinate production activities to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of manufacturing schedules
- Monitor production performance and implement improvements to increase productivity and reduce downtime
- Work closely with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve operational issues and maximize equipment uptime
- Support implementation of standard operating procedures and best practices across manufacturing processes
- Assist with capital projects, equipment installations, and process improvements
- Support warehouse, shipping, and receiving operations to ensure timely delivery and inventory accuracy
- Coordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to align production schedules with material availability
- Help improve order fulfillment processes and on-time delivery performance
- Support production planning and prioritization to meet customer demands
- Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to supervisors, operators, and plant personnel
- Promote employee engagement and teamwork across manufacturing and distribution functions
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management
- Communicate Service Wire goals, expectations, and performance metrics to team members
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment
- Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency
- Participate in production meetings and review key performance indicators
- Support quality management systems and ensure compliance with quality standards
- Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to plant operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including sales, purchasing, and engineering
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Skills/Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED required, associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, business or related field preferred
- 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing, production, or industrial environment
- Experience in continuous improvement processes or manufacturing plant operations
- Strong team development skills
- Knowledge of safety regulations and operational best practices
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- In-person attendance is required
- May require occasional extended hours based on business needs

Skills Required
