Job Summary
Assistant Payroll Manager will be responsible for administering the Group’s Payroll Companies in terms of payroll related payments and reconciliation to ensure compliance to legislative and business requirements. The incumbent will also provide subject matter expertise on complex payroll issues as well as provide client service and support to employees on matters relating to payroll.
Job Description
- Ensure accurate, confidential, and complete processing of all payroll related activities.
- Analyze, investigate, and proactively identify process and system issues, conduct root cause analysis, problem-solve and solution any issues raised by stakeholders and own area.
- Prepare monthly and/or annual standard and ad hoc reports as required for payroll, regulatory and other external and internal customers.
- Resolve all queries at point of contact and ensure that all escalations are dealt with timeously and timely feedback provided to internal and external customers.
- Oversee the monitoring and balancing of Incoming and Outgoing Interfaces pertaining to payroll monthly to ensure the correctness of uploads and information sent out to third parties: Medical Insurance, BURS.
- Sign off payroll checklist monthly to ensure that the execution of Pre-, Final and Ad-hoc Pay Runs are accurate and as per the required standards: e.g.: all relevant signatures appear on documents.
- Monitor and control monthly that all third-party payments made to vendors are accurate as per the standard control check e.g. BURS payments, medical insurance etc.
- Monthly reconciliation of staff salaries account.
- Prepare and conclude the complete, timely and accurate processing of tax year end requirements.
- Randomly audit payroll related calculations to ensure that all statutory requirements are adhered to as per legislation.
- Escalate any risks identified to allow for appropriate logging, investigation and resolution.
Minimum Qualification and experience required
- Degree in Human Resources / Accounting / Information Systems
- 3 – 5 years in Payroll execution preferrable Sage VIP Payroll
- 1 – 3 years’ experience in Workday and SAP
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook, Power Point)
- Sage VIP Payroll training.
