The Assistant Manufacturing Engineer will support the development and improvement of products from the design stage through production, ensuring timely release of technical drawings and effective resolution of manufacturing issues. He/she will work closely with manufacturing operators, technicians, engineers, and overseas counterparts to support daily production activities, improve product manufacturability, and address engineering-related issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Support product development activities from the design stage through production release.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineers in reviewing and improving product designs based on customer requirements and manufacturing needs.
- Provide day-to-day engineering support to production for mechanical and manufacturing-related issues.
- Assist in reviewing and resolving issues related to labels, cut lists, fittings, component compatibility, and technical drawings.
- Support the preparation and updating of engineering drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
- Assist with Manufacturing Capability Assessments and provide timely engineering feedback.
- Support evaluation of alternative parts requested by Purchasing, SPS, or PR processes.
- Assist in qualification and development activities for new outsource suppliers.
- Support Non-Conformance (NC) investigations and improvement projects for internal production and outsource suppliers.
- Work with technicians, operators, and engineers to identify root causes and implement corrective actions for production issues.
- Support continuous improvement activities to improve product quality, manufacturing efficiency, and production cycle time.
- Assist in monitoring engineering operational metrics and preparing weekly/monthly engineering reports.
- Work with overseas engineering counterparts to support technical issue resolution and product improvement activities.
- Support ISO 9001 certification activities, including preparation and maintenance of Work Instructions, OCAP (Out of Control Action Procedure), FMEA, Control Plans, and other required engineering documentation.
- Perform other engineering and manufacturing-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Machining, CNC Engineering, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Min 2 years of engineering experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Fresh graduates with relevant engineering qualifications and internship experience are encouraged to apply.
- Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and other engineering/design software.
- Basic understanding of mechanical drawings, manufacturing processes, and engineering principles.
- Knowledge of weldment manufacturing is an added advantage.
- Good command of spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and work closely with production operators, technicians, engineers, suppliers, and overseas counterparts.
