Job Purpose

The Assistant Manager Engineering will assist the Senior Engineering Manager in planning, directing, and coordinating engineering operations across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficient performance of engineering projects and maintenance programs, meeting safety, quality, and operational standards, and contributing to the continuous improvement of processes and systems.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the engineering team, helping resolve operational challenges and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Maintain all Plant and machinery in the above-mentioned areas in peak condition by effectively implementing Preventive maintenance program, to ensure a continuous supply
  • Provide continuous services in electricity, water supply, air conditioning including HVAC, telephone, and fire prevention/protection systems.
  • Maintain available spare parts for Plant and Machinery and bring to the notice of superiors any shortcomings/ shortages in the system
  • Apply innovative and creative methods and recommend methods to improve machine performance, productivity and reduction of waste
  • Provide engineering support to implement Environment, Safety & Health policies of the organization
  • Implementation of proper preventive/Corrective maintenance activities through CMMS and update all records on time
  • Follow permit to work system & LOTO system
  • Work with external contractors and vendors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services, while maintaining the desired quality and safety standards. Manage engineering contractors including year end evaluations
  • Ensure machine guarding & other necessary machinery safety measurements to ensure worker safety
  • Coordinate with QA, Production, Stores and other relevant areas to achieve common goals of the organization and maintain high quality standards of our products
  • Train relevant employees who deals with machinery, utensils and other engineering and maintenance tools to improve productivity and efficiency of the production process and machinery
  • Document all maintenance and engineering related activities to comply with Global QMS and EHS policy requirements
  • Assist Plant engineering manager on ensuring QMS & EHS & Engineering compliance
  • Support the planning, scheduling, and execution of engineering CAPEX projects to ensure timely delivery, within budget, and in compliance with organizational objectives and industry standards.
  • Provide supervision on all departmental maintenance/engineering activities
  • Work closely with site compliance executive/Specialist to achieve engineering compliance and take responsibility to complete related actions on time
  • Subject Matter Expert (SME) in GQMP and GQP areas of Maintenance and Calibration
  • Outsourcing of Engineering and Facility Services: Assessment and Control of Risks assessment, approval and control of Service Providers
  • Ensure effective maintenance and operations of Vacuum Systems, Water and Steam Systems, Compressed Air and Gas Systems, HVAC systems and dust/fume extraction systems
  • Assist Facility and Equipment Design AND Identification and Operation
  • Support for HAPS improvement projects and achieve OEE targets. Support initiatives focused on process optimization, energy efficiency, and innovation to improve performance, productivity, and safety.
  • Creation, updating, and maintenance of technical documentation, including equipment manuals, drawings, and compliance reports.
  • Any other responsibilities described in site technical authority/SME
  • Working as the EHS/DI representative of the department & Track and complete DI/QA/EHS audit actions.
  • As the technical authority/SME for Construction safety/Machinery safety, lead the site construction safety/machinery safety programme and provide specialist support.
  • Conduct/Initiate engineering change controls, impact assessments, OQ/DQ/PQ protocols and validations.
  • Ensure all engineering activities align with the company’s health, safety, and environmental policies & standards. Assist in maintaining compliance with local regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. Adhere to Haleon lifesaving rules.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bsc. Degree in chemical process/ mechanical or electrical engineering from recognized university
  • 4+ years of experience
  • National Diploma in Technology or equivalent from a recognize institute
  • To manage all engineering sections
