Now Hiring: Assistant Location Manager
Location: CREC Schools – East Hartford, CT
Wage Range: $65,000 – $75,000/year (commensurate with experience)

At First Student, our Assistant Location Managers are a vital part of our leadership team, supporting daily operations and ensuring safe, reliable transportation for the students of CREC Schools. In this role, you’ll work side-by-side with the Location Manager, overseeing staff, managing operations, building relationships, and ensuring contract and regulatory compliance.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting all day-to-day activities at the location, including safety, maintenance, dispatch, fleet and facility management, payroll, routing, and reporting

  • Leading, coaching, and developing a team, with full supervisory responsibility (hiring, training, performance management, retention, and discipline)

  • Building positive relationships with school officials, staff, parents, and the community

  • Managing customer contracts, ensuring contract compliance, and addressing issues or concerns promptly and professionally

  • Supporting budgeting and financial controls for the location

  • Ensuring compliance with all state, federal, local, and company policies and procedures

  • Assisting with administering collective bargaining agreements and working with union officials as needed

  • Promoting company initiatives and supporting a culture of safety

What We’re Looking For:

  • Supervisory experience is highly preferred

  • Experience working in a union environment is highly preferred

  • Transportation industry background is highly preferred

  • Minimum 5 years of operations experience (including driver roles, dispatch, or similar) and/or bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred

  • Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills

  • Proven leadership, team-building, and customer service abilities
