The Assistant Group Leader supports and assists staff in carrying out all planned educational and enrichment activities for the after-school enrichment and recreational program.
Reports To: Program Director, PS 297
Location: 700 Park Ave, Brooklyn NY 11206
Hours: Up to 20 hours/Week; Non-Exempt;
Schedule: School Year / September - June / Monday - Friday, 2pm to 6pm
Salary: $17.00 / hour
Major Duties:
- Assist the group leader with engaging activities, including sports and recreation, educational, arts and craft and special events
- Collect attendance folder and other data as necessary
- Supervise participants throughout afterschool program
- Distribute snacks and assist with clean-up
- Assist with monitoring and maintaining the rules of the program and upholding the afterschool model
- Support activity instructor(s) with lessons.
- Collaborate with group leader to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
- Follows all GSS, DYCD and SACC regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits, and ability to work with other youth.
- Must be available during the program hours listed above.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability and willingness to work in a dynamic team environment.
- Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

- Availability Monday through Friday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. during the school year
