Job Description

Assistant General Counsel
 

About the Position: The incumbent will represent the agency, its Board, and agency personnel in legal proceedings and will be responsible for a wide array of legal issues to include employment law, constitutional law and civil rights, EMTALA, mental health law, department investigations, legislation, policies, ethics, and litigation in all state and federal courts along with other tribunals.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

Level II

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • A license to practice law in State of Oklahoma
  • An active membership of the Oklahoma Bar Association
  • Two years of legal experience or adjudicative experience

Level III

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school,
  • A license to practice law in State of Oklahoma,
  • An active membership of the Oklahoma Bar Association
  • Five years of legal experience or adjudicative experience.

Level IV

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • A license to practice law in State of Oklahoma
  • An active membership with the Oklahoma Bar Association
  • Seven years of legal experience including two years of litigation, or agency-defined experience in the practice of law e.g. tax, or supervisory experience

NOTE: We reserve the right to fill this position at a lower level.

Special Requirements:

  • Applicants must be willing and able to fulfill any job-related travel normally associated with this position and as such have a valid driver’s license.
