Position Purpose:
This position manages and handles all legal matters within an area of specialization, and may include focused emphasis on litigation, regulatory, operational, or compliance issues. The ultimate objective of this position is to minimize the legal exposure of the Company in any and all legal matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manages auto liability, general liability, and product liability claims and lawsuits.
- Supervises and manages outside counsel.
- Assesses risk and exposure and works internally and externally to minimize the exposure
- Selects, develops and motivates assigned staff.
Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
- Typically reports to an Associate General Counsel or Vice President – Legal.
- Direct reports generally include one or more Corporate Counsels, one or more legal specialist and one or more legal coordinators.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 20% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

- Demonstrated familiarity with medical-legal issues related to auto liability, general liability, and product liability claims
- Twelve years of experience as an attorney.

- The completion of a Juris Doctor or equivalent and required certifications for practicing law.
