About the Role
The Creative Studio Assistant Editor is a full-time position responsible for assisting in the post production of the Creative Studio's sponsored content. This role centers around organizing production media, preparing it for editing, conforming edits for finishing, as well as exporting final deliverables. Assistant Editors also have opportunities for editing shorts, sizzles, and other ancillary content to be released on Big Think, as well as partner platforms across the web. This is a role for someone who is passionate about workflow and organization, with experience in editing short-form social videos.
What You’ll Do:
Assistant Editor Responsibilities
- Ingest, transcode, organize, log, and label the footage from productions
- Sync and color correct footage
- Generate and organize transcripts
- Help usher each video through the legal process, evaluating stock and releases
- Conform picture and sound in preparation for grading and mixing
- Package together all final elements, render, and QC final exports
- Attend regularly scheduled meetings
- Support Editors with stock, music and archival research
- Support IT and all Assistant Editors with connecting drives received to the DC office (located in Chinatown, DC) into their remote work stations in the IT server room
Editing Responsibilities
- Work with Directors/Editors to edit ancillary videos: Shorts, sizzles, and cutdowns
- Interpret partner notes in collaboration with the Director and SCP
What You’ll Need:
- Initiative in solving new problems as they arise, both technical and creative.
- Understanding of video formats and codecs
- Proficiency in Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve
- Must be highly organized with file and folder structures
- Experience with creating titles in After Effects
- Strong communication skills - both written and verbal
- Positive attitude and solutions-based approach to your work
- Openness to feedback and challenge
- Desire to always be improving your craft
- Ability to work from our DC office (located in Chinatown, DC) Monday through Friday from 9:00am-6:00pm ET.

Salary Range: $45,000-50,000
