The Assistant Director of Financial Aid at Union College supports the administration of the College’s financial aid programs. Reporting to the Director of Financial Aid, the Assistant Director is responsible for the administration of assigned financial aid programs, policies, and procedures and for ensuring compliance with federal, state, and College regulations and statutes. The Assistant Director will administer assigned federal, state, and institutional aid programs; assist with the daily operations of the Office of Financial Aid; and provide counseling and support to students and families.

Pay Status and Classification: Exempt, Regular Full-time. This position is not eligible for relocation assistance or visa sponsorship.

Work Location: This position is not eligible for a hybrid schedule.

Supervisor: Director of Financial Aid

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support the Director of Financial Aid in the administration of the College’s comprehensive financial aid programs and services and contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the Office of Financial Aid.

  • Administer assigned federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs in accordance with applicable federal and state regulations and Union College policies and procedures. Monitor programs for compliance and resolve conflicting information, discrepancies, and other issues affecting student eligibility or disbursement.

  • Review prospective and currently enrolled student application materials and supporting documentation to determine eligibility for financial aid and accurately award assistance based on federal, state, and College eligibility policies.

  • Counsel students and families in all aspects of financial aid and educational financing. Interpret federal rules and regulations and provide clear, accurate, and personalized guidance regarding financial aid eligibility, policies, procedures, and financing options.

  • Maintain accurate and complete financial aid records and documentation in accordance with applicable federal, state, and College requirements.

  • Collaborate with Admissions, Bursar, Registrar, academic departments, and other campus offices to ensure effective coordination of financial aid processes, accurate information, and seamless student service.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of relevant education, training, certifications, and/or work experience.

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet established deadlines, maintain accurate records, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.

  • Experience learning and becoming proficient with a variety of computer applications.

Preferred:

  • Experience in financial aid or higher education enrollment management or student services.

  • Familiarity with the Ellucian Colleague financial aid or similar student information system and financial aid administration software.

Compensation:

The annual salary range for this position is $62,353.02Except for roles with a set rate of pay, the wage/salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The stated hiring rate/range represents the College’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the rate/range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
