The Assistant Director will be responsible for the following:
• Assisting in the creation and management of social media strategy and execution alongside the Director of Creative Content.
• Serving as lead videographer/photographer for select Olympic sport home events as well as team-related features & content days.
• Shooting, editing, & producing captivating video features to be used in-venue and on social media to help tell student-athlete stories.
• Assisting the Assistant Athletic Director of Marketing with strategic marketing to increase fan engagement and enhance the game day experience.
• Executing distribution of marketing collateral and W&M Athletics branding across digital channels.
• Producing & directing select Olympic sporting events and overseeing the gameday operations and planning for event presentation including video board and PA announcer.
• Creating & executing game scripts designed to engage Tribe fans and fulfill sponsor obligations for select Olympic sports.
Job Description:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
- Experience working within intercollegiate or professional athletics marketing/creative department.
- Proficiency with video editing and content creation.
- Proficiency in the use of Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Passion for collegiate athletics and a creative, solution-focused mindset.
- Experience creating and executing athletics marketing plans.
- Experience in graphic design, social media management, photography, & videography.
- Knowledge of college/NCAA guidelines.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be able and willing to work nights and weekends.
- Prolonged period of sitting and standing indoors and frequently exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs.
- This is a non-exempt position, eligible to receive overtime in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act. This position may be subject to overtime during high peak times, etc. as directed and approved by the supervisor.
- This is a restricted position, subject to the availability of funding.
Job Duties:
60% - Lead Videographer:
- Capture athletic events and organize athletic video and photo directory as it relates to home games and special events in addition to editing and producing content, assist with social media accounts for W&M Tribe Athletics, as determined by the Director of Creative Content.
- Assist with graphic design concepts, short and long form video creation, photography, and live event coverage.
30% - Social Media Assistant:
- Assist the Director of Creative Content in managing and maintaining William & Mary Athletics social media accounts across multiple platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X and YouTube.
- Help brainstorm, develop, and create original content designed to enhance fan engagement, promote athletic events, development, sponsorships, and overall elevation of the Tribe Athletics brand.
- Support real-time game day social media operations and collaborate with staff to identify creative storytelling opportunities featuring student-athletes, coaches, and campus initiatives.
10% - Game Director:
- Organize, plan, and implement all game day activities including promotions, scheduling, timelines, PA reads, and recognitions for assigned sports.
- Serve as assistant game day director at specific events, as determined by the Assistant AD of Marketing & Fan Engagement.
