The Position

Assist in the positive promotion of Roanoke College Athletics. Direct sports information/promotion responsibility for multiple NCAA Division III teams. This is a 12 month position/1.0 FTE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Athletic Communications in the maintenance of the following:

o Athletic website

o Athletic social media plan

o Statistical records

  • Serve as the technical director for select video streaming efforts

o Attend home athletic events for which we stream live

o Coordinate camera and play-by-play commentary

o Troubleshoot video streaming operation

  • Help recruit, train and oversee student staff and other game day workers
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics Communications

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Knowledge and/or experience in NCAA division III athletics, particularly in the area of sports information, web page management, and video production.
  • Proficient in desktop publishing and web content editing, including MS Office Applications, Presto and NCAA Live Stats statistical software, and Adobe Premier software (InDesign and Photoshop)
  • Strong Communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work with young adults while maintaining a high energy, professional attitude.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with an ability to get along well with diverse personalities while being tactful, mature, and flexible.
  • Must be able to work evening and weekend hours
  • Strong work ethic and ability to be a team player

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge/experience in NCAA Division III athletics, especially sports information, web page management, and video production
  • Proficiency with desktop publishing and web content editing (MS Office Applications)
  • Experience with Presto and NCAA Live Stats statistical software
  • Experience with Adobe Premiere, InDesign, and Photoshop
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with young adults; high energy, professional attitude
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills; tactful, mature, flexible
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours
  • Strong work ethic and ability to be a team player
