Join Our Team as an Assistant Designer - in our Own Brand Team.

Are you passionate about womenswear design? Do you love spotting trends, translating insights into product, and helping drive category growth through great design?  We’re looking for a motivated and creative Assistant Designer (Own Brands) to help elevate our womenswear ranges. This role is ideal for an Assistant Designer (or a Junior Designer ready for the next step) who’s excited to build commercially strong, trend-right product.

As the Assistant Designer, you’ll report to the Senior Designer and support the end-to-end design process across your allocated category. You’ll contribute to the department’s strategy, seasonal vision, and range planning, ensuring our collections align with THE ICONIC’s commercial direction. This role is key to supporting the concept, design, and development of product—bringing innovation, creativity, and a customer-first mindset to every stage.

About the role:

  • Understand and drive company wide strategies and OKR’s.
  • Maintain a close link with manufacturers to ensure seamless handover of developments, taking direct accountability for making sure all sample technical packs submitted are accurate, completed and submitted in line with set timeframes
  • Communicate regularly with the Design Team to ensure any critical design issues or developments are highlighted and resolved when required
  • Select, develop, and source fabrications, colours, trims etc. in line with company standards
  • Attends fit sessions and uses technical ability to ensure best fit is achieved and approve final samples with GT when required
  • Approve all details of final product in line with original design brief
  • Understands the manufacturing structure of the supplier’s business in order to recognise cost & manufacturing opportunities for every design submitted
  • Participating in range planning meetings to ensure the range is balanced in styling, colour and fabrications.  
  • Ensuring range boards are up to date and planned accordingly

What it takes

  • Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in product Development or Design.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Strong trend forecasting skills with a commercial eye for fashion
  • Ability to time manage work load in a fast-paced environment and prioritise tasks effectively
  • Proficient in illustrator and photoshop would be advantageous
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance requirements.
