Ottawa University (established in 1865), one of the oldest private liberal arts universities in the United States, is a multi-campus system serving approximately 4000 students through its campuses in Kansas (Ottawa, Kansas- Residential Campus and Overland Park, Kansas- Adult Programs); Arizona (Surprise Residential Campus and OUAZ Adult Programs); Wisconsin (Brookfield Adult Programs); and our OU ONLINE PROGRAM based out of Overland Park, Kansas.

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for managing the unit’s academic operations as defined and led by the Provost including course scheduling, adjunct contract development, the student grievance process, departmental budget facilitation, and facilities management as they relate to the unit’s academic operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (provide list of items which are essential to effective outcomes in this role):
- Collaborates with School Deans related to management of oversight for equitable and appropriate faculty workload assignments.
- Recruit, hire and assign adjunct instructors to courses not assigned to courses by regular full-time faculty for each term. Conduct associated contracting process as well as requests for pay to the University Payroll Department.
- Provide leadership and support to the student academic grievance process (and team) under the direction of the School Deans.
- Provides leadership to the development and management of the course scheduling process.
- Provide support to the management of facilities needs as they relate to academic operations (i.e., faculty office moves, furnishings, classroom assignments, etc.)
- Provide support to the School Deans with faculty administrative responsibilities including oversight of course syllabi, faculty professional development, coordination of tenure/promotion portfolio collection, maintaining manuals/handbooks of u-wide policies and processes, preparation for meetings, etc.
- Oversee the collection and reporting of associated data, ensure data is tracked, shared, submitted, and interpreted appropriately. Understand and use this data to benefit and support future programming for the department
- Operate programs within the expectations of the budget; ensure expense control management. Work with faculty to develop and manage departmental budgets.
- Collaborate effectively, providing leadership to projects when applicable, with divisions, departments, and programs to assure effective and timely implementation of planned programming and projects.
- Maintain an understanding of University’s policies and procedures and exercise judgment accordingly. Recommend policy changes and develop procedures to improve the operation of the unit.
- Maintain confidentiality of data and information during performance of duties and incorporate safeguards for the security and integrity of all data/records. Assure information and activities are handled with confidentiality and meet the expectations of the University’s Code of Conduct and Ethics.
- Manage faculty meetings for Weekend Residency programs.
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION: (education based on essential job duties and requirements consistent with business necessity):
Master’s Degree Required. Earned Doctorate preferred
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: (experience based on requirements in role and are consistent with business necessity)
Three years higher education experience; experience in project management is desired.
