About the Role:

Vercel is seeking an Assistant Controller to strengthen our financial operations as we scale from a late-stage startup to a company prepared to one day become a public company. This strategic role will support the accounting close process while driving key financial initiatives. You will oversee critical accounting functions including corporate accounting, consolidation, commissions, and accounting operations. As an integral member of the finance team, you'll contribute to special projects aimed at enhancing our financial infrastructure and controls, helping build the foundation for our company's continued growth and success.

What You Will Do:

• Lead corporate accounting functions, including month-end close processes, consolidation, and financial reporting 
• Manage certain technical accounting matters
• Provide oversight on international payroll operations across multiple countries, including managing new entity set-up and implementation of new payroll systems and processes
• Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities that enhance financial operations and strengthen internal controls
• Collaborate with FP&A to develop comprehensive financial models and scenarios that support strategic decision-making and business planning
• Provide leadership and mentorship to accounting team members, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement
• Manage relationships with external auditors during annual audits and ensure compliance with GAAP and emerging accounting standards
• Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives

About You:

• 12+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years at a Big 4 accounting firm and 5 years in industry
• Experience working in SaaS and for companies operating in multiple countries
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent) 
• CPA designation and strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Passionate about building systems and process improvements; you thrive in bringing process and organization to complex environments
• Ability to lead projects independently
• Skilled at communicating technical accounting concepts to a non-technical audience
• Experience with NetSuite is a plus!
• Located in SF Bay Area

The San Francisco, CA base pay range for this role is $210,000.00 - $260,000.00.  This salary range is an estimate. Actual salary will be based on job related skills, experience and location. Pay ranges outside San Francisco may be  adjusted based on employee location.  The total compensation package also includes benefits and equity-based compensation.
