This position reports to the Corporate Controller. The Assistant Controller will have oversight of the general accounting team with responsibility for monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations and ad hoc analysis. An effective Assistant Controller is organized, has a great eye for detail, and a strong understanding of the intricacies of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, and other financial transactions within an organization. This person must be accustomed to a fast-paced manufacturing environment and adapt well to change. The Assistant Controller will play an enormously important supportive role in the finance team, leading the general accounting function for the Americas.

This role is subject to our hybrid work model: we collaborate in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The rest of the week, you have flexibility to work wherever it suits you best. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Support timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close, including journal entries, accruals, and overall maintenance of the general ledger, adhering to a 2-day closing.

  • Operating as a shared service center model, including understanding and navigating centralized financial operations, managing interdepartmental communications, optimizing processes for efficiency, and handling high-volume transactions and service requests within a shared services environment.

  • Lead a team by understanding each person’s role, delegating and reallocating workload and ensuring a backup structure is in place for all key tasks.

  • Develop and implement accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes.

  • Key responsibility of P&L and balance sheet accuracy ensuring compliance with GAAP and Marmon Standard Practice Instructions (SPI’s).

  • Monitor new accounting pronouncements and SPI’s and determine the related accounting, policy and reporting impacts.

  • Generate various monthly reports, analyze P&L and provide variance commentary in monthly meetings.

  • Take a leading role in OneStream reporting with monthly trial balance reporting, managing transformation rules and updating budget and forecast.

  • Tax accounting including quarterly/annual tax package preparation, managing sales/use tax and quarterly and annual tax accruals.

  • Oversight, review and approval of journal entries and account reconciliations.

  • Assist Corporate Controller with annual audit, providing PBCs and remediation of audit findings.

  • Review and approve invoices, bank payments and administrator for p-cards, maintaining a strong relationship with treasury functions.

  • Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned

Skills/Experience We’re Looking For 

  • Proficient user of large ERP Systems (experience with Infor LN preferred, but not required).

  • Self-starter with strong work ethic, and a flexible and collaborative work style.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Experience managing a team.

  • Flexible and adaptable to change.

  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls.

  • Ability to interact with various levels of staff throughout the organization.

  • Strong understanding of accounting concepts and good analytical skills.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office with an emphasis on Excel, Outlook, and Adobe.

  • Adherence to timelines and deliverables, monitoring self-performance to ensure achievement of results.

  • Minimum of 10 years of accounting experience in manufacturing environment

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field

  • Master’s degree and/or CPA license is preferred

  • ERP implementation or merger integration experience is a plus

  • Spanish fluency is a plus
