The accounting/finance department at Field Nation is an environment where teamwork and collaboration are essential to success. Field Nation is fast-paced and growing rapidly, so change is an expectation, and resilience is necessary. This role will be crucial as we continue to grow and scale the accounting department to support a business with 500+ million in Gross Transactional Sales/Value (“GTV”). The mission and objectives of the Assistant Controller are to manage and build a team to support the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll processes, including building the necessary team and procedures while ensuring US GAAP compliance. This role will involve managing the working direction of offshore employees. This position offers the opportunity to be in a fast-paced, high-growth environment where new ideas are encouraged and collaboration is necessary. 

What you'll get to do:

  • Build and scale leads/managers in the US and BD to support our Marketplace accounting (supporting GTV of greater than $500 million).
  • Manages payroll & the commission process by ensuring that it is properly resourced and trained, including establishing internal controls to protect the privacy of recipient’s information and the accuracy of payments.
  • Ensure Accounts Payable controls and processes are in place for timely payments.
  • Develop staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships.
  • Assist in the continuation and design of NetSuite automation to support all accounting transactions and ensure all requirements are clearly defined and testing is done before implementation.
  • Ensure accounting transactions across the team are complete in a timely and accurate manner and in accordance with US GAAP to meet our 3 day close timeline.
  • Provides analytical support regarding financial statements and general ledger.
  • Understands US GAAP reporting and takes lead in writing position papers to support our processes including but not limited to revenue recognition, lease accounting, acquisitions, and other one time costs associated with operations.
  • Develops processes and procedures to drive department efficiencies, assist in the development and meeting of departmental budget
  • Leads year-end financial audit activities, including ensuring controls are in place to mitigate material and significant weaknesses.

You might be a good fit if you have:

  • Extensive knowledge in US GAAP - CPA preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 5-8 years in accounting with experience in: leadership roles, internal audit (desired) and working with international teams (preferred).
  • Experience in Netsuite or other financial systems.
  • Expert knowledge of Excel.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to think critically.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail while maintaining a view of the big picture.
