Sonoco has an opening for an Assistant Adhesives Processor with their Akron, IN facility.
What you will be doing:
- Responsible to the Adhesive Processor for the safe, efficient performance of all duties related to the manufacture and packaging of quality adhesives which would include, but not limited to: Preparing, weighing and loading of raw materials in the correct order and using the formula for correct cooking, mixing, cooling and transfer procedures.
- Operates ribbon blender cooker, various mixing tanks, transfer pumps, water and steam valves, forklift, power washer and various hand and power tools.
- Produces adhesives to specified quality specifications and uses various lab equipment (viscometer, ph meter, solids tester) to ensure that product is within stated parameters.
- Maintains records and paperwork in neat and legible manner.
- Safely handles many kinds of hazardous materials including acids, caustic, and preservatives.
- Follows all Adhesive division and plant safety rules. Uses forklift to unload and load incoming supplies and move raw materials from storage to work areas.
- Safely loads tankers, glue bag and totes and properly labels same with type of adhesive.
- Keeps work area and equipment clean and orderly on a continuous basis.
