We are seeking a self-driven and analytical Assistant Accountant to join our Travel Line of Business Accounting team based in Melbourne, Australia. The ideal candidate is a hands-on and proactive finance professional who takes pride in their work, thrives in a collaborative environment, and is eager to contribute to a global FinTech leader.
About the role
This is a fixed term 6-month maternity leave cover position. We offer a hybrid working arrangement with 1-2 days per week working out of our Melbourne office located in Collin Street.
Key duties
The ideal candidate will have the following job responsibilities:
Assist with month-end reporting deadlines and support both month-end and year-end reporting processes.
Prepare and post journals, including accruals, prepayments, and reclassifications.
Conduct intercompany reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve discrepancies.
Process receipts, payments, and staff reimbursements, ensuring timely review and accurate processing.
Perform balance sheet and bank reconciliations, ensuring accuracy across multiple entities.
Work alongside financial accountants on reporting tasks and ad-hoc financial projects.
Assist the Accounting Managers with ad-hoc duties.
Qualifications
Degree qualified in Accounting or Commerce
3 Years of accounting experience
CA/CPA part-qualified or working towards
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated experience with bank and other GL reconciliations
Month-end account preparation experience
Exposure to multicurrency reporting is preferred
Experience with NetSuite is advantageous but not essential
Excellent communication and teamwork skill
Must pass a successful background check
